The GOP is eating itself again

I suppose it could be defined that way but I’d put it more as the party is being forced to place their bets on 2020 and have been for quite sometime. It’s just becoming more public who is on what side as to whether Trump is a single term president and 2024 will depend on distancing themselves from him or if he wins re-election and having a record of supporting him gets you farther in the party. The fact it’s more out in the open shows how at risk that second term is.

Of the movies the Guardians movies and Ragnarok are my favorites.

and agreed on Bernthal. Apparently he MIGHT make an appearance in some Moon Knight episodes as Castle as Punisher isn’t under the same contractual “non use” policy as the other Marvel Netflix characters.

Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the other ones can’t be used for like 4 years after the Netflix shows end. Punisher and everyone related to his shows aren’t under that same policy, apparently the wording was left out of their contracts.

I thought it was 2 years after no new episodes?

I thought I read the rights are fully back now?

I just pulled a number from thin air. 2 sounds closer to right but Caslte, Micro, and Jigsaw could all appear literally days after the Netflix show ended if Marvel wanted them to.

This all seemed to stem from Cheney backing Massie's primary opponent.

They also seemed to be pissed that she's backing Fauci lol

I mean it is Matt Gaetz so even outside of the context I mentioned, that guy probably would still be doing this. Seems like a clown from what I’ve seen so far from him but he is 100% in on the Trump side.

I didn't care for any of the Thor movies but someone told me I would love Ragnarok so I gave it a try and fucking loved it.

Korg for the win. Plus Taika Waititi is an absolute treasure in general. Jojo Rabbit was my favorite movie of 2019. Say what you want about Hitler, but a Polynesian Jew made him absolutely absolutely adorable.

Guardians was just perfect top to bottom though, the casting was great, the writing, special effects, and that motherfucking soundtrack was amazing. Chris Pratt knocked it out of the park as Star Lord. Got teary eyed with the ending of 2 as well.

I still can't believe they cancelled The Punisher. I thought the Marvel Netflix shows were pretty meh outside of that one.
You having trouble finding yours, bud?
@senri keeps it dark in his basement :(

Has anyone seen this show?

I believe they get DD,IF, LC back in November this year.

JJ and Punisher are in Feb 2021.

when Thor throws the can at Loki.

“ow”
“Just had to be sure”

They cancelled it because of Disney+. Bernthal is on record saying if Disney wants Punisher to appear he’d like to be first in line to audition for the role and given Disney has said they’ll do Blade I think it’s safe to say Punisher won’t get watered down on Disney+

I always bought into the personal safety argument because I remember staying in towns in PA that didn't have a police force. They relied on the State Troopers responding.

Also this crazy incident was burned into our heads growing up.

I guess it was 26 years ago now and 911 technology has gotten much better but it happened when I was a kid and the surviving kids used to go around lecturing high schools on the dangers of rumors, vigilantism and mob justice.

Yeah, on a very personal level it makes sense. So yes, in the extremely unlikely case that you're the victim of an armed home invasion, a mass shooting, an abduction by a stranger out on the street, etc., it COULD help.

But on a macro scale, it might actually make things worse. So having a gun in the house increases your chances of dying of shooting. Plus just having more guns in society probably increases your small chances of being in a shootout, getting robbed at gunpoint, and all the rest.

Lol.

As a reminder, he's one of the GOP congressmen who didn't fall for Sacha Baron Cohen's ruse in This is America.

Trump sending feds into Chicago

Hope this doesn’t get toooo interesting

I really hope that his campaign's internal logic isn't that a show of force and "law and order" will force a confrontation where he gets to display the force and promote the "law and order."

But that's exactly what this is looking like to me, another escalation. The president should not be trying to escalate things.

The "fighting tyranny" argument was always super weak to me. It's just one of those "feel-good" slogans that right-wingers love to tout despite it rarely standing up to scrutiny.
The personal safety argument is shitty but at least it has some legs.

Fighting tyranny is beyond retarded.
Couldn't disagree more, fighting tyranny is absolutely a legitimate reason to own a gun. Consider the case of Breonna Taylor who was wrongfully killed in a no knock raid. Her boyfriend got into a shoot out with the police as a result, if he wasn't armed he could very well have been killed himself. That's not the only case of a citizen defending themselves in a no knock raid and probably not the last. Or consider the open carry protests when compared to the protests that don't, notice which tend to find themselves on the receiving end of some rubber bullets and tear gas. I don't think that's an accident.

I really find it odd that leftists scoff at the idea of defending oneself from government tyranny as if its some wild hypothetical scenario and not something that has played out over and over again in American history. The problem is when people say "government tyranny" they usually imagine some totalitarian government sending tank columns through the streets of America. But more often than not government tyranny in America has been at the local or state level. I mean if Jim Crow isn't government tyranny then I don't know what is. I'm not saying guns are the best form of resistence to that kind of tyranny, it wasn't an armed insurgency that ended Jim Crow after all. But on an individual level having a gun can mean the difference between being tried by 12 or buried by 6.

It's not even just that--it's that her supposed convictions are so easily pushed aside for partisanship. Rare to see such a combination of quackery and hackery. Impossible to think that she's either capable of doing the job or even willing to do it to the best of her limited capability.

And I'd say that generally Trump has done a decent job of making Fed appointments. The one area that he hasn't really fucked up until now.
Nope, he's been a thorough disaster on appointments especially:

Education(DeVos)
Health and Human Services(Azar)
Justice(Barr)
Commerce(Ross)
Transportation(McConnel's wife, works in shipping industry)
State(Pompeo)
Housing(Carson)
DHS(Wolf)

Once you go far enough left you get your guns back

Those Portland protests were all but dead. The federal goon presence ignited them to levels not seen before. There's literal facebook mom groups storming the streets in helmets and gear to aid the young protesters who are being brutalized by the police and feds.

It's a campaign ploy at this point and it's terrifying

Portland has been a preferred fascist target at least since HW was VP. Very strange level of hatred for that place.
