War Room Lounge v145: I never played it. Is it basically grand theft horsey?

I hope you deride everyone who peddles such a farce, especially coming from three obvious right-wingers, only two of which even attempt a feeble "I'm a reasonable liberal" facade.

Literally no one that is authentically left-leaning is considering voting for Trump, especially on such absurd bases.

I'm voting for Trump on such absurd bases.

I mean I like the healthcare, and the social support, and the rule of law, but someone wore a mask one time and I just can't stand for communism.

El idolo can do better
I mean HELLO?

I'm a radical lib now

My opposition to Biden has been dampened greatly since Trump's threat to harm protesters over the past few months. Which has now become a reality. The idea that anyone on the left has been radicalized IN FAVOR of attacking protesters is something cooked up in Peter Thiel's neofascist think tank.

Kobane was a fascinating battle, I remember following here in the WR. Crazy time.

On the subject of Kurds I have thought about the ethics of waging asymmetrical guerilla warfare. I tie this to the Kurds because I have read somewhere that their insurgent groups tend to target the (mainly Turkish) security forces and avoid attacks against civilians. That's a start. This topic might be a bit too hairy for the WR right now though, might get demodded if I go down this rabbithole too far.
Well Kurdish resistance, like most, is splintered into different groups with different viewpoints on acceptable responses when it comes to violence.

Inside of Turkey police stations are often the targets alongside military barracks for bombings, but due to the nature of oppression it's hard to argue those aren't legitimate targets. Inside of Syria the Rojava resistance is locked into a much more conventional style of warfare.

I do realize talking about even the historical aspects of resistance groups is touchy, but I never understood why. We had mods here jerking off about the US assassinating an Iranian general which ALSO included the US murdering a few Iraqi leaders we consider allies, but when the US does it, it's just the cost of American interests.

It's beautiful there, but you will definitely need French in that city.
I've looked at English speaking universities there, how much French is required to navigate QC? It would be a justification for me to learn French as well.

You may be being sarcastic, but isn't there a lot of the same in Brazil with Bolso's supporters? I was under the impression that Brazil and maybe Egypt were the only countries handling it half as badly as we are.

Belarus is probably the worst I’ve heard of btw, though I’m not sure that’s a good consolation prize.

Why in boiled sheep's blood is Sam Harris finding himself on a phone call with Tim Pool? Jesus Christ. Very disappointed in him. And Eric Weinstein is a fascist piece of shit in "classic liberal" clothing. He's even worse than Haidt.
Vaush is being sarcastic but those guys all operate in a space of "Woe is me, I'm just an old style liberal. The radical leftists have cancelled me with nowhere to go" so it wouldn't be surprising if they held conference calls together to see what right wing propaganda they could spew for the week

Outside of Montreal, you should be able to speak French. For one, even if they can speak English, they may just want to fuck with you.

You don't choose the Intellectual Deep Web, it chooses you.

Can't wait for Bari Weiss to start moderating these discussions.

Trump just announced that it's safe to do Jiu Jitsu as long as you only do North-South position.
You know shit is fucked when you read a post like the above and feel the need to ponder if it’s a joke or not.

Like, for all I know Trump could seriously tweet that tomorrow, provided he knows what Jiu Jitsu is.

I mean not doing business with Saudis? I’m gonna count that as a good thing I think.....I mean clearly I need to do more research, but Saudi money is kinda blood money isn’t it?
No Tony Khan’s dad does business with them. But his son is a clown running a promotion full of vanilla midget comedy “wrestlers.”

LMAO

The only people even slightly left of center that are voting Trump are that 0.001 that mistakenly click or check off Trump at the booth.

There was a tiny, tiny minority that in 2016 were hoping Trump would really "shake things up," but no way in hell are they still going with that. Keeping the libs from winning, keeping tax cuts for the rich, keeping the coloreds in their place are the only reasons Trump's getting votes.

The Trump strategy to delay mail-in votes needs to be taken as a serious threat. It wouldn't take long to delay millions of ballots for a few weeks past the deadline. But you can tell it's bad for Trump when his plan is to continue ignoring the pandemic instead sparking a culture war and resorting to other last ditch effort nonsense to try and squeeze out the victory.

Biden campaign so far has done a good job satiating enough progressives while also keeping conservatives relaxed regarding their beloved "law and order"

Did you listen to Harris’s podcast when he gave his take on the recent (as in a month or so ago) BLM protests?

His argument was basically “I recognize that racial disparities can be traced back to slavery, but have you considered that black people are more likely to resist arrest? More importantly, did you know that 13/50?”

I was honestly shocked. It’s not like Harris hasn’t done the same thing in the past re:subjects outside of his educational background (reading a couple of studies and pretending like it allowed him to crack the code of the Matrix and see the universe’s absolute truth), but he was unironically spouting a white nationalist talking point.

I don't know much about Eric beyond the fact that he's associated with these Intellectual Dark Web types and there's a lot of variation among those guys. I do know his brother Brett is a fan of Kung Fu Panda which makes him alright in my book.

Couple pieces of excellent news coming out of long-term immunity studies.

First of all, SARS and COVID are so similar in certain ways that memory T-cells left over from SARS are reacting to COVID in a number of effective ways.

This also means that T-cells from SARS can last at least 17 years, which is hopeful news for lasting immunity from COVID.
