They got my family member on remdesivir and a fresh round of stronger antibiotics, still holding out in a regular room and not the ICU, so hope is hopey.

That’s some significantly good news. From what I’ve heard from ICU nurses, most of their patients go pretty quickly from admittance to hospital to icu. If someone is strong enough to holdout with just a regular hospital bed for a couple days, they normally don’t get worse after that point to now needing ICU treatment.

Also what I just learned last night, every single covid patient at that ICU is on dialysis, even the ones who end up recovering are on dialysis for a while after. The low oxygenation of the blood they think is knocking the kidneys off (kidneys are apparently a very week organ when it comes to blood having any issues).

Things like this too are frustrating by the “it’s only killing 1% now that younger people are getting the virus!” It’s like they forget there’s a lot of range of outcomes that you’d really want to avoid other than simply dieing that don’t involve merely getting a light cold.

@Fawlty Elizabeth Not to trivialize what you're going through, but if you do have COVID and you die from it? That will make you a big deal in the War Room. Whenever anyone talks about or minimizes coronavirus, it can be brought up that a longtime forum regular died from it. And it will also present juicy ban-bait for shit posters who say "well, at least it offed Fawlty," etc. I'm also sure that it would cause a bunch of denialists about the virus to say that you were morbidly obese, a drug addict, etc. But that just comes with the territory.

Just sayin'. If you're doing a cost-benefit analysis as you wade toward that white light, internet immortality is something to be considered.
