Accidentally pepper sprayed myself for breakfast.
Don't recommend it.

That's a false quote.
Ok. Fair enough. Where did it come from? Whether Hitler said it or not, it sounds like a chapter right out of whatever the kid is reading/watching. I'm really curious now.

been working my way through patrice rants after someone here mentioned them re: independence day (my daaavid!)

the king kong one is pure gold

I was just using your post as a springboard. I wasn't lumping you in with the anti-fascist fascists. Hell, I've said it before - @Tycho Brah knows it, which is why he made that joke about citing him - I much prefer the conversations that I have on Sherdog to the conversations that I have with academics. The sharper folks with whom I've conversed on here could slice the majority of academics I've had to listen to talk about shit into ribbons. That should reflect poorly on academia, but it's also a genuine compliment to the fine folks of Sherdog.

If only I weren't too busy trying to get academics to let me write about Ayn Rand, maybe I could get them to make Sherdog accounts so that we could start having some real conversations :D

You should start a Sherdog-based academic journal.

Need to brainstorm a good name though.

Karate Idiots Quarterly?
The Boogaloo Review?
Ad Hominem Journal?
Canadian Trump-Fanciers Magazine?

Incorrect.

The USSR went from miserable backwater to world superpower in a few decades. Cuba has some of the highest health and education levels in all of Latin America (despite the US's economic attacks over the past 60 years), anarchist Catalonia worked out reasonably well in the short time it existed before it was destroyed.

In a capitalist society, the incentive is material gain and the constant accumulation of commodities. In a more humane one, the incentive is the satisfaction of improving society and helping out others.
To be fair Cuba depended heavily on support from the Soviet Union and when that was gone they experienced a terrible economic crisis. And then they courted Chavez as their new patron in the early 2000s.

It's from a book called Jerusalem Urusalima by Dennie Barnett

yeah, a "history" of jersulem where the Hebrews are actually black and the Jews are imposters

I meant that scholars of Marxism or who take an overly critical look in their work aren't exactly welcome everywhere [...] You're likely not to even get an interview if you send a CV with a bunch of very critical stuff.

I want to believe you, I really do, but I've gotten so jaded in just five years that it's very hard for me to believe this.

Norman Finkelstein is a brilliant scholar on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and he was basically driven out of academia for creating work that was too critical of Israel and the US (and also for fucking with Alan Dershowitz).

That demolition is one of my favorite things ever. You have no idea how many times in how many conversations I've thought of his line, "You see, you don't know what you're talking about, and that's pretty terrible" :D

@AgonyandIrony , @Trotsky

this is eerie. we are just talking about this yesterday.

amazing how you can find wisdom in the strangest of places.

time stamped for you.

Add Josh Barnett to the list of people I'd rather hear talk than the vast majority of academics ;)

I would think that we'd have to work "flaming" into the title somehow but then that might be misleading

Ps,I read your review on "Be Water" regarding Bruce Lee's documentary.

you thought it was too "social justicey"? I saw the first half (several drinks in) wasn't so bad.

would you mind expanding on your review?

thanks.

Sorry but this isn't some trivial, rare theory that you can attribute to one person or one book. Its a self evident truth that can be substantiated any way you want to go about it.

"From the bowels of modern journalism we bring you the hottest news; it burns all the way down."

To be fair , the embargo had a little something to with their economic difficulties .

Did he come up with the Hitler misquote though?
It was on the internet before that was published.
