Strange how no one wants to engage an emotionally unstable poster who spends most of his time on an imaginary crusade against a made up enemy

Dude needs to get counseling
I felt bad when he compared himself to the insane person on Ozark tbh.

I think Hemingway is a fairly interesting historical figure, but I will never understand how anyone can think he was a great writer. I've only read OMATS and A Farewell to Arms, but both were very underwhelming. I thought OMATS straight sucked.

Oooof. I love A Farewell to Arms, his use of language is sublime. I live a few blocks away from where Faulker and Tennessee Williams both lived (they lived close to the Cathedral) and I still chuckle about the beef they Hemingway and Faulkner got into over Hemingways language.

Hemingway was a short fiction author though. The complete works are amazing. There are good breakdowns of Hemingways work that might illuminate you to why he's such an important figure in the literary world.

His life though, incredible. HBO did a movie called Hemingway and Gellhorn that was... Decent. Clive Owen as Hemingway was an interesting casting choice. The best portrayal of Hemingway was in Midnight in Paris though.

I don't think there are very many writers in American history who understood the human condition better than Hemingway.

His rigid manner may be off-putting to some, especially if you're used to more elastic prose but there's a reason for it. If you're into knowing more about him his personal letters have been published. His communications with Fitzgerald were wildly entertaining.

...but that is what he was doing. He broke an earmarking moratorium in order to pork barrel for his constituents. The moratorium would be an attempt to change the system, refusing to join in is supporting the pork barrelling regardless of your personal vote (always overturned) on budgets etc.
Interestingly it's one of the issues his son disagrees with him on, but then Rand's shilling for the supplement industry's freedom from oversight was more disgusting in my opinion (although not hypocritical).
ear marking isn’t necessarily pork barrel politics so long as the earmarking isn’t designated specifically for political favor. Has that ever been shown of Paul? He voted against. It’s , if not al the increased budgets. When the budget is approved anyway why would t it be his responsibility to designate some of that spending to benefit the tax payers of his district? What is the alternative? If the money doesn’t get spent by Congress the executive branch spends it and its less transparent.

That's how the system works. If you constantly earmark stuff for your constituents, the fact that you voted for a smaller budget makes no difference, you are perpetuating the system. People will reelect you for your earmarking. A moratorium on earmarking so that in the next election that's off the table as a reason for reelection is a more effective move against pork barrel politics, and if you actually are in favour of changing the system, stopping the pork barrelling or reducing the budget, it makes no sense not to support the moratorium.

you guys see this (forgive me if it's been shared already).

wish there was more to see. we're only able to see the aftermath. they keep blaming the black dude for starting it. still, fuck those fat motherfuckers.

Eh, just insecurity amongst some black people manifesting as bigotry. They want to be seen as descendants of Egytian Kings, or Jesus, or being "the real jews", or the "real aztecs". It is weird, delusional and sad. I tend to give a pass rather than get into arguments over it.

It reminds me of Peter Quill pretending his absentee father is David Hassellhoff in the Guardians of the Galaxy.
I had a black guy the other day tell me he was the “real Hawaiian” because originally Hawaiians were black but now we got all mixed with Asians and white people (he actually just said mixed with Japanese cause he’s that stupid) and so this guy who just moved to Hawaii is the real Hawaiian because he’s black. Can’t speak Hawaiian, doesn’t know any of the real history, but there it is. He’s here now so he’s the original lmao.
Yep. Just finished the first week. Now the program ''really'' starts, because it adds volume unless you rate the workout as being too difficult.
Is the whole program pre-written? Does it auto update or do you send a report in that they then write the next phase for you? I’m wondering how RP does it. They just have an excel spreadsheet for the diet phases but there’s a lot fewer variables at play there.

Since I was told at least one person is moaning about my post in the Seattle roadblock thread in here.

All I said was that 'if you protest in the street and get run over you have no one to blame but yourself.'

I even specifically said I don't care WHAT you are protesting.

It was a politically neutral comment much like if I said 'if you stick a fork in an electrical socket and get electrified, you have no one to blame but yourself.'

Which is equally true and equally politically neutral.

Edit: and I'll add @Jack V Savage since you seem to think my 75 likes is evidence of a right wing conspiracy, that I believe the comment is well liked by both sides because outside of a tiny radical group, EVERYONE, whether left or right, is sick of BLM and their unrelenting stream of bullshit.
It's an asinine position , even if you leave out the part that according to the authorities the road was closed and that he went around a barrier to get on the road , he still made the decision to not slow down and try to swerve around the vehicles , that's moronic , if there is an obstruction on a road , a normal person slows down .

Saying they had no one to blame but themselves is fecking stupid .

Yeah, I'm sure all those gang members are gang members, because of systemic racism...

It's not a black or white thing. It's a greed thing. All races have these issues. There's a link to poverty, but racism? Nah. The only color responsible for all this, is green.

They are though.

Street gangs have been studied and one of the things they have in common is: urban poverty, racial/ethnic isolation (aka, systemic racism in the US), economic marginalization.

This awesome book went in depth into all of these things and even took a global view on it (spoiler alert: gangs in Brazil and in Asia have these characteristics too)

Since you won't read it, here's the author giving an extremely quick rundown:

:) Not sure which of you two I disagree with more. Can you elaborate on that first sentence?

Only bad sex puts you to sleep.
Wait a minute Sara, I've blasted my wife into a contented level of sleep on more than one occasion, probably why she married me, I can't come up with any other explanation.

I'm starting to be concerned that you haven't been serviced properly. I have a brother.

Jesus
This whole video is a shit show

I would ask you report it. That’s how the process is suppose to work instead of this new lounge trend of not pointing it out to mods at all, coming into the lounge, and talking about how those posts must be allowed since they are up. I’m not pinning this on you but there is way too much complaining in here about posts that should be moderated when they aren’t even reported. It makes zero sense why it’s happening if posters actually want things addressed. The lounge isn’t a report queue. Of course you can discuss those posts and how awful they are here but you’re missing a key function when you don’t report it.

Please report it at the very least before pointing to a double standard when moderation didn’t even get a chance to address it.
Lead, how does it feel to be a part tine social worker on a south East Asian basket weaving / karate forum?
