It's a Broadway musical. It's not meant to be seen on the screen. Ever watched any other big Broadway plays on the screen? They always land flat. It's a different format, and you really have to be there in person to appreciate all the choreography and whatnot. When you take that away and put it on the screen, it's like watching a rough pre-production dress rehearsal for a movie. It just doesn't click.

I have no idea how they did this but I think it depends on the presentation.

If they just recorded a Broadway show you're right.

But if they shot it like Networks do live sitcoms it could be pretty good.

DaLeftCross.

Whenever I get tagged by some new member talking shit, there's a 95% chance it's him. It's funny, because he used to try to hide his identity, but now he doesn't give a fuck, because, well, why should he?

Was this one of them? I'm apparently your alt.

Never heard of him , who did he used to be ?

That's quite a loaded question, given how many accounts he's had, but his last banned account was "Drunken Angel". He's got a new one though, although I'm not sure if it's been banned yet or not(don't remember the name). I think the guy is finally starting to burn himself out. Didn't have quite the same amount of passion with the new one, and only tagged me once or twice. He's not really making an effort to incessantly troll, and make his presence known. I don't even know if he is an actual lefty, or a righty just pretending, like that WarDosAnjos guy.

His most notable one outside of "DaLeftCross", was "Wally Brando". If you can remember, he was always spamming threads with "Dirty Donald" in the title. He's so bloody obnoxious in his hyper Liberal schtick, that even Computer Fogie told him to tone it down. Seriously though, the guy has more accounts than anyone I can think of. It really shouldn't be THAT easy to come back. One ban, okay. Two bans, fine. 10+ bans, and it's time to start banning on site.

Personally, I think that cheapens it even more. When you add movie-like camera shots, and cuts to what is clearly a play, it only accentuates the point that it's not a movie, and it can get a little cringey. Like you're watching an extremely cheap movie. If you're gonna show me a play on screen, I'd rather it just be a bare bones one shot, like I was in the audience, rather than try to make it something it isn't.

Those two worlds shouldn't collide, IMO. They're totally different experiences.

Did you see Les Miserables on screen? I felt like it was super long but it’s one of the few I think crossed over well.

Long as you're here, thought you'd be interested, the historian in this program is preaching your gospel,

Grease, hairspray, Westside story, momma Mia, musicals usually translate very well to screen for movies, but I’m guessing he’s talking about just recording the stage production and that being viewed, like when they those Live! Versions on tv?

You'll have to clarify. Are you talking about the movie adaptation with Russel Crowe, or the stage play, which I do believe had a small theatrical run way back.

This "Hamilton" movie is presented as it is on the stage, only with Hollywood filming techniques. The beauty about stage plays, is that you see it all. There are no extreme close ups, or quick cuts to emphasize a certain scene, or performance. It's up to the performers to draw you in. So when you see a camera cut to a close up of the lead, it's unnatural, because the camera is making you focus, and not the performance itself. It's telling you where your eyes and ears should be, instead of letting the performers draw you in naturally.

I've seen a few plays filmed for the screen, and it just never clicked for me the same way it does when you see it live.

Yes.

The Russell Crowe Les Miserables was easily one of the most disappointing films of all-time for me and it boggles my mind that anyone liked it.

I mean....how the fuck did they think that every single word could be sung without either making the film overly long or the plot overly rushed. I thought the experience of watching that movie was torturous on account of the fact that even rudimentary conversations took forever because they had to be sang.

Ah, I wasn’t following. I meant when they adapt it into an actual movie and don’t film the stage. I’m not a musical fan in general but some pull off the movie adaptation well.

People are pretty ignorant about guns. I'm not expert myself.

But guns are like dogs: You'll always have a group of people who are only worried about the ones that "look scary".

Meanwhile, I'm not far off from being grandfather'd (literally) an AK.
If I would buy an AK people would be very worried.

Someone recommended a Dinner with Andre to me. I contemplated breaking his legs while watching it.

It would’ve been better as a musical I guess.

Ever watch a Live Stream on Youtube, and wonder what the hell the purpose of the live comments are? It just scrolls and scrolls. There's no point. The bigger mystery is the vast number of people posting, thinking that their comments will be valued on any level. I get Twitter. I get Facebook. I get Forums. I do not get Live Stream comment sections.
