If there's ever been a way to prepare a potato that hasn't been done here I've never heard of it. And the city has 2 Irish pub/restaurants, so yeah, we got boxty covered.

Potato pie, anyone?

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.

Is that .. is that scalloped potatoes with bacon latticing?

Ah I see it's an island. Since America is likely falling apart before our eyes maybe I'll get one of those cool short buses for special kids and just travel around doing LSD and wearing eccentric hats and come up that way.

@Fawlty Elizabeth what is the source of your back pain? I get back spasms every few years. For me it correlates with too much sitting and not enough vigorous physical exercise. Usually when it's happened it's corresponded with things like night shift or exams. Doing some ab work makes them go away in about a week. But if it's a joint/disc issue that is unlikely to help.
Disc issue. Not bad enough to do anything medically drastic, but flare-ups are a thing.

The exercise/rest/ibuprofen cycle is quite the tightrope. For sure being inactive causes problems, but so does too much exercise, and ibuprofen isn't amazing for you, so they have to be carefully balanced. I have a number of good stretches that help a lot too.

I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree on this point; thank the lord for the good Friday Agreement, the people of Northern Ireland had suffered enough.
I have certain opinions about the IRA but I'm referring to the book lol. It's probably the most I'm depth book on their history. The fucking helicopter escape from prison is wild stuff, the difficulties the English faced in Crossmaglen (it's still odd to me that S Armagh was a part of the occupied six counties after Churchill convinced Michael Collins to turn his back on his countrymen. (I always loved the beef between Collins and Tom Barry during the Civil War. Barry escaped prison twice and went right back to killing pro treaty IRA soldiers.)

Surprised they haven't made a film about the Battle of Bogside though.

Had it not been for the horrendous treatment of the Irish by the RUC and the Battle of the Bogside the PIRA wouldn't have been as popular as they were. Perhaps that's why I have so much hatred towards Confederates in the US. They remind me of Loyalist scum in NI.

The Wind That Shakes the Barley was a really good movie, but I was very pleasantly surprised with '71. I was apprehensive when I saw it was about an English soldier being hunted in Belfast but they actually showcased the SAS working with loyalist paramilitaries.
