I got a snake head once just dipping a net in the water when I saw a stationery fish by the dock putting a canoe in on the Mississippi waters. The thing had some viscous teeth. I have no idea what it was doing just chilling there weirdly like that, and to not easily move when the net went after it. Just used to being the meanest fish around so not afraid of anything?

I feel like this picture doesn't even do it justice

The horrifying thing about them? They can breathe air on land. They'll move from body of water to another by shimmying through wet grass after a good rain. They're like the ultimate invasive species. Definitely kill those things. Have to like chop it's head off or even shoot it. Throwing on shore won't do any good.

Fish for it like you would aggressive bass. Shallow crank baits, and I've head of surface poppers working.

They are such a problem here you have to kill them when caught. I have read jerk, cranks and frogs are the best so tonight will get some. I have never used a frog before so that will be fun.

The hard part is they stay in shallow areas where they can see people. The two huge ones I saw yesterday, saw me. Absolutely serious, I was a solid 15' high and a good ten feet back from the canal and they saw me, followed my walking with their heads then swam off. Amazing awareness of their surroundings.

I guess they are good eats but I ain't eating nothing out of these canals. When I get one I will try to get a pic posted here

Edible?

Yeah I corrected my post as my tablet typing sucks. They are good eating and saught after. Problem is these canals are disgusting and I don't eat anything I catch from them. I release only. Other people will eat fish caught though. I gave a dude my 5 pound peacock bass a few months back.

Apparently that's the problem. The Chinese find them freaking delicious, and then brought them here to America for fish markets.

The northern snakehead is native to parts of China, where it is a meaty staple harvested in farms, and to Russia and Korea, according to federal data.

It was cultured in Arkansas until the 2002 ban, said Lynne Parenti, the curator of fishes at the National Museum of Natural History. But the species has still suddenly appeared in the United States. It turned up in a pond in Maryland that year, in markets in New York, where it is a Chinatown delicacy, and in Boston.

Behind their paywall but Washington post did a blind taste test of battered snakehead vs Cod and the snakehead made better fish n chips

bro. you know how creepy that is? impregnating women as a fetish is creepy as it is on its own. but to be wired that way at such a young age??

Breeding fetish is actually pretty hot right now... but it's usually women that have it.
