And there is toilet paper on your shoe.

Lol that was specifically the type of nursing I was considering. I specialize in crisis intervention right now so it would for sure be near the top of my list. I would need to be an RN first though.
There are programs that will get you from zero to RN in about 18 months. Could your wife support you during that time?

Yeah I believe so. We have savings and own our home, no mortgage
Psych nursing is one of the better paid nursing professions.
I knew someone that has been in social work for years, even got an advanced degree in it. A nurse friend convinced her to go into psych nursing and it was a huge quality of life improvement for her. Same sort of shit to deal with, but a much better pay check.

Weren't you saying you have a teaching license?

It's a pretty sweet gig and one thing I've noticed is that you instantly get respect just by being a young-ish male and not a dork. You say you're a big dude, right? You could assist with the football team or other sports and you get even more, uh, hallway cred.

It is a lot of work but it's all concentrated in the school year. I've been bullshitting and getting up at 10:30 AM for the past week and it feels great lol.
I do have a teaching license. I don’t know if it’s good in CA though. It’s another path I’d definitely consider, especially since I could spend more time with my son. The only negative of course is the lower pay. I wouldn’t be qualified to teach anything above the HS level. And yes I was a D1 athlete in college I could easily help coach football or track and field. I know I’d probably enjoy teaching and coaching.
lol yes I worked executive protection for Oprah for quite a while. Just when she’s out here on Maui where she owns property. Pretty sweet gig. She does need security though, she attracts some pretty crazy “fans.”

So the wife’s been mentioning going to the mainland again lately. I don’t know if I’ll be able to stay in the same profession, though. I mean, I’d get hired easily, but idk if I’d want to.

@TeTe are there any agencies in the San Diego area that have better reputations? Any you know that have bad reputations for sure? Even maybe correctional stuff.

Or anyone else be sure to chime in if you know. I know I’m a scumbag pig and all but I’d appreciate it. Seriously considering a change of career once I can collect my pension. Maybe nursing.

I think starting off something new might be exciting and fulfilling but starting the same thing at the bottom would just suck, especially if the culture is bad. I’d consider running for Sheriff somewhere but I think I’d have no shot unless it was a smaller, more Polynesian community. And we like San Diego.
My wife works at RJ Donovan Correctional facility here. They're cutting budgets in Cali but they may still be hiring throughout the prison.

Anyone think Trump literally, not just figuratively, stroked his Cheeto when he got the jobs report?

I think teaching could be a pretty fun job. Teaching math, specifically. I help my nephews with their math homework when I'm visiting, and it's fun to watch them try to figure things out. But oh my god does the curriculum ever move slowly. I don't know if kids are just that retarded or if the curriculum designers just think they're that retarded, but way more could get done over a course.

Teaching nowadays has much more to do with classroom management than conveying the material to students to learn

I think you’d hate it
