I’m not familiar with this. Do you have a link about it.

They shut down the city police and moved it into to a County wide force 8 years ago. Everyone thought it wouldn't work, but instead the opposite happened. Along with the other reforms it went a long way toward making things better.

I don't know how people do this 0 carb bullshit as a lifestyle. This fucking sucks.
You should not do it. Especially if you’re working out that day. How much do you weigh? I’m guessing going lower than 100 carbs is not beneficial to you since I do believe you work out and lift.

I don't know about 0 carb, but I definitely don't have much of a sweet tooth and prefer my meats, cheeses, nuts, mushrooms and eggs to bread, potato, pasta and rice. Eliminating bread, potato, pasta and rice from my diet has been the only way I can maintain my weight at a reasonable level (combined with at least an hour of cardio, 6 out of 7 days a week).

I agree. Imagine not being able to eat an apple? How you gonna keep the doctor away?

I'm just doing it as part of a peak week ''depletion'' phase. Friday is the day of the donut.
Lol I wouldn’t advise eating donuts either but ok. But yeah, every now and then I’ll eat a donut or two. They’re delicious.

Personally I feel a whole lot better doing low fat than low carb. More energy, same weight loss.

Did you try counting?

Carbs or calories? I've done both and tried a fair number of diets, but had very limited success before I eliminated carbs aside from the small amounts in vegetables like carrots, broccoli etc
When I first bulged 2 discs about 5 years ago I initially lost 14 kgs in about 3 months, most of which was muscle mass. After I was off the pain killers, anti-inflammatories etc I put back on (and then some) 35kgs in about 12 months, but a lot of it was fat.
Even once I could exercise again I struggled to return to my prior weight/strength/fitness until I tried drastically reducing carbs, at which point I lost 20 kgs in 4 months while maintaining the same strength. I had also struggled to work effectively (mostly systems design, network design and some programming) on most diets (low fat, restricted calories, more frequent smaller meals etc) due to mental fog/fatigue, but I adjusted to a low carb diet after about a fortnight.

I think low fat/higher carb is pretty much the way to go for most people. From a practical standpoint it's just a lot easier in a number of ways. Psychologically, in terms of recipes and meal prep, and finding cheat ''substitutions.'' For example, I've been making protein pancakes for breakfast and they are so fucking good it doesn't feel like you're dieting. Popcorn and potatoes are also extremely satisfying per unit calorie. Popcorn should be classed as a super food. 12 grams of protein, 15 grams of fibre per 100.

Sounds like you found something that works for you, and that's what counts.

Yeah, with the recurring back issues I've had, getting back into shape has practically become routine (although it's not getting any easier).

20°c ( that's 70 fh for the oddballs)
Intermittent light cloud , light ocean breeze .

Perfect
That was the weather here yesterday afternoon. Went for a drive with the missus. Glorius. Cooler today but otherwise it's the same.

You should visit PEI. Ocean breezes are a specialty around here.

My understanding is that @Social Distance Warrior has a much higher rating than me, so I expect him to give me a pretty good kicking.

I do much better in daily chess than rapid, bullet or blitz though, so who knows.
Me too. So if you want a daily game, hit me up at Rebound59. I am probably not as good as those other guys but I will try my best.

Injuries, especially back injuries, can be a motherfucker.

I'm lucky that I've never had a really serious injury before, and I hope that continues. This year, though, it seems as though I finally figured out how to manipulate my body composition, after sifting through the bullshit. I've lost 15kg of fat since September. It's weird how that fucks with your mind. Especially among us colonials, the 90kg or 200lb benchmark is the manlet line in terms of weight. But I would say most men who are above that mark are just above it because they're fat. 90kg with 10% bodyfat is pretty rare.

@Gregolian and anyone else who is a fan of good ramen, you might like this:

It has inspired us to take a ramen tour the next time we're in Japan.

"Legendary Chef and, "Ramen King" Osamu Tomita opens his kitchen along with five other prestige ramen shops to share recipes and trade secrets. The directorial debut of Koki Shigeno, RAMEN HEADS is a beautiful, simple and stylized homage to none other than noodle and broth... or all the philosophy and flavour that comes along with the soupy calling. In theaters March 16th: www.ramenheadsfilm.com"

@Andy Capp I just found the most absurd example of the horizon effect. In a tactics problem, there were two ways that I could win a piece. However, at the moment where you have to make the decision, it evaluates one way as only 0.5 in your favour. When you actually go through the variation it evaluates the position at 6.55 in your favour, though.
