This new likes system is tough for me. My schedule can be tough, and I really do like a lot of the contributions here, and my browsing style is I may not read any posts for a few days, but then have a big splurge of catch up. I read these Lounge threads religiously, the YLYL thread (through seldom ever comment or contribute), and the occasional trip to the Arcade, and also the Heavies if there's a big fight.

Would be good to be able to bank some likes (i.e. if you don't post for the first 5 days of the month, you have 150 potential likes to be able to give out on day 6). 25 a day is too few! Make it happen Mods!

this turned me around on the guy

That pic showed you he could act ?

Interesting

But seriously. Noah may be a comedian but at the same time, I would've expected something better from him. None of his stuff is funny so you'd at least hope he's some great guy who got a good gig. Instead, the asshole goes on social media and pretty much says riots are okay. I don't understand how there is such a big disconnect here with some people.

I don't really use social media much, but my wife is saying that people she knows are on there supporting the riots, saying how local businesses being burned down and/or looted is just part of a bigger picture. Putting up some MLK quotes about how this is fine. It's one thing to see random online people saying it because you could attribute that to trolling or not being genuine, but when people who are supposed to be responsible good people support the riots it's really eye opening.

Fo sho

I may be starting to agree with Ben Finegold that Magnus isn't all that when it comes to reigning as champ, despite clearly being the strongest player of all time.

Magnus is vulnerable right now, IMO. He has crushed MVL in their careers so far, but he and Ian are dangerous candidates. Both Karjakin and Caruana aren't near Carlsen in speed chess, but MVL is, so Magnus will have to go for it in match play, against an MVL who has perhaps done opening preparation for once. Ian has a plus record against Magnus.

We might not have to wait for Firouzja.

haha nah, his Megadeth shirt.

I don't think of him as a douche anymore.
He bought that shirt at hot topic, I have a chilli pepper one I use as jammies.

k I just wanted to make sure you weren't in alignment with those lunatics that terrorize everybody over here in Manhattan etc.

I'm convinced those dudes are phony. When I was in nyc those guys would always yell out a bunch of black supreme stuff as loud as they could, then all of a sudden there would be some generic looking white dude that would start arguing with them about how they wrong and how white people did stuff etc. Then the leader of the group would put the white dude in his place. It was always a white guy with a girl too. They would stage the "encounters" because it would draw a large crowd during the arguments.

grade A shit stirrers. they shit on everyone - all races alike. even regular black folks just taking lunch breaks from work. what really grinds my gears is that they even target little children, threatening rape & ownership/enslavement of little girls. fuck those pieces of shit.

I've only had to personally deal with them once, but not really. I was walking with an old cop buddy of mine who is now retired, & he knows them - they cursed each other out a bit, but they definitely tucked their tails in his presence. they clearly feared him.

You like megadeth?

I fap to Megadeth <3

I want to like Megadeth. But oh my god Mustaine is so lame. It should just be their lineup of lead guitarists wanking for the whole album. I would listen to that.

haha I find him to be a genius, lyrically & in song writing.

it's hardly disputed, & rumored strongly that he created 'muffling' aka the palm muting technique in which now every single metal band implements. it's the sound that defines metal. the "CHUN CHUN CHUN" sound.

next, there's no question that Metallica rose to stardom because of him. they kicked him out & acquired instantaneous success, from songs that he wrote/co-wrote. in "Kill 'em All" & "Ride the Lightning", all you hear is Mustaine's influence drenched in practically every song. Metallica finally acquired their own unique sound starting from "Master of Puppets".

a lot of people rag on him for his singing, but to be honest - the man has range. he's honestly a great singer. he's just not as good as a singer live because he'd be playing technical riffs while singing in a completely different rhythm. that's why you might notice he often bites down on his teeth while singing live.

my biggest criticism of Mustaine is that he is terrible at solos. like God awful. the man can hardly keep a melodic flow going, where he usually just wings it. it blows my mind because his song writing is exquisite.

I can go on & on, & I don't say any of this as a "Megadeth bro" who hates Metallica.

in my youth, I was a die hard Metallica fan, but graduated to Megadeth after. Metallica just seemed too juvenile to me (still do). I couldn't look back. I moved on to the likes of Dream Theater shortly after to give you an idea of how much I appreciate technical songwriting & musical composition, but Megadeth is just the all around ideal band to me.

not to mention, Mustaine's music stands strong through the test of time. I keep coming back to them, & I grow to love his/their music more & more now as an adult.

the same goes for Pantera, but that's another can of worms. I've deep dived into how much I love them some months ago on here ( @HunterSdVa29 ).

Why don’t you just change your name to 22k mustane and marry him

"When you are a have and when you are a have not, you see the world in very different ways. And a lot of the time, people say to the have nots this is not the way to handle this. When Collin Kaepernick kneels, they say this is not the right way to protest. When Martin Luther King had children as part of your protest, as part of his protest Birmingham, Alabama, people said this is not the right way to do this. When he marched in Selma, people said this is not the right way to do this.... When people marched through the streets in South Africa in apartheid, people said this is not the right way to do this. When people burn things, they say this not the rigt..... It's never the right because it's never.. because there is never a right way to protest. There is no right way to protest because that's what protest is. It's not right because it's a protest against the thing that's stopping you."
Not as bad as I imagined. He’s actually spot on up to the point where he fails to condemn the destruction of small businesses . Positive change wasn’t going to happen anyway.

I also see borderline racists using mlk quotes to condemn the riots. Usually The same people who condemned Kap for kneeling.
