Well describing it as making it "easier to control nations when they are made interdependent" is to an extent true, a global free trade regime is useful in controlling belligerent pariah states without military force since it offers them an attractive alternative. To an extent this worked on pariah states like Libya and Syria which liberalized in then 90s and attempted to mend bridges with the West (though their liberalization schemes ultimately lead to their revolts).
Yeah, but you're removing important context with that generous characterization: the subject of that sentence and their motives. That's provided by the part of the paragraph you omitted, and is what gives the sentence you selected a different meaning than JVS's.

Opinions needed: best gin and best "champagne" for a French 75?

@Jack V Savage @AgonyandIrony

That's one of my favorite cocktails, but I don't think I'm a great person to ask about this. I will say that one place I went to used Barr Hill's Tom Cat, which added a nice variation. I feel like it would be wasting really good sparkling wine to make a cocktail so I just get cheap stuff there.

Who is having an easier time controlling nations that trade with each other? Seems to me that making them harder for anyone to control is how it makes war less likely.

The countries that have disproportionate influence on global financial institutions like the IMF and World Bank, mainly America and its more powerful allies.

I'm more thinking style of sparkling wine, not level of quality.

In terms of gin, I have a barreled gin that might be similar to tom cat, might give that a shot.

Which games did you see?

Peru-Denmark in Saransk and Peru-France in Ekaterinburg

He's a bit hostile to "globalist" entities.

I mean, all of these organizations deserve critique. The UN in general, the WHO, UNESCO, the EU, the ICC, the ICJ. But the grounds for criticism is what matters.

He was arguing that Tedros "praising China" was a violation worthy of the US withdrawing funding.

You don’t like the 16x world champion?
As a human being he seems like a great dude, with all those children's wish foundation meets he does. As an in ring performer he left a lot to be desired last time I paid attention to wrasslin'.

I powerbombed my kids the other day. Last ride to be specific. That's what they get every time they mention John Cena's name in my presence.

I think my aversion to finishing moves and pro wrestling generally largely traces back to wincing in embarrassment while watching The Rock oversell getting the Stunner.

Really, everything about his character annoyed me, but the overselling and cartoonish ring reactions I really hated.

I ordered new shoelaces for a pair of 5.11 boots on Amazon. I had an angle grinder kick back and sliced the boots, good time to be wearing 8" cause it would have hit my ankle tendons. Anyways, I had to order a different color because they were out of black, it took two weeks and finally it showed up. I was actually looking forward to relacing them. I was confused cause it was a big heavy box for a pair of shoelaces.

I open it up and its a $150 5.11 dufflebag I didn't order. I checked my history and I paid $6.99 for a pair of shoelaces. I called the tech line and it turns out it was a "small" seller, they said start a return and send it back, thank you. Damnit; I'm sending it back. Why am I telling you this? Because you're all thieves and I'm better than you, especially cause I'm telling you.

I really wanted to keep it

Gas at less than a buck here. I never thought I'd see that again.

You must really hate Flair then

Last time I needed to relace my boots I just used paracord

He wasn't really active when I watched. I do remember him stumbling dazed and face planting after chess slaps. But it seemed more acceptable since his character was pretty much a comic force at that point (late 90s) rather than someone meant to be taken seriously as a badass face. That's also a difference in the performance culture of the two promotions, I guess, since WCW was still more hokey and kid-themed.

Saw a headline that one in 6 Americans have lost their job due to Covid here

Does that seem right to you guys? I definitely have friends who’ve been laid off, but not 17% worth. Could definitely be due to the types of jobs at risk and friend group dynamics where others it’s like half of their pals got the ax

I'll message some of the award winning bartenders who have cut me off and get back to you. It's a very popular drink down here.

Also good news. My dealer has been looking for my favorite strain for me forever and literally called me five times in a row this morning to tell me he was outside my apartment with a free eighth. He's been real nice since I didn't bang this hot girl he called dibs on.

Some guys managed to turn wrestling into a more concussion-inducing "sport" than boxing/MMA ever could be.

In boxing or MMA you go in knowing that there's a chance you might get your ass beat by somebody, but it's interesting to me that a guy like Mick Foley could go in every night knowing that he will get his ass beat, bare-knuckle, no referee protecting you or anything. For the show of it.

That's just a level of madness that's almost unfathomable.

Oh, gotcha. I think low sugar is important. Brut.

Hmm. I'd be surprised if @MicroBrew is saying that trade is bad because it gives the U.S. more power to reduce war, and I wouldn't read the statement I quoted like that. But maybe he can clarify.
