"During an unprecedented crisis, while so many businesses have provided refunds for services that can't be fulfilled, it remains notable that baseball -- America's pastime -- is forcing fans to take the loss on ticket sales," attorney Glenn Phillips said in a release. "Millions of Americans are out of work right now and need access to the funds wrongfully withheld by MLB, MLB teams, and ticket merchants."

Teams are likely to offer credit toward tickets for 2021 if no games are played this summer, sources told ESPN. A partial or full cancellation of the season would also trigger a refund policy, but there's no timetable for implementation. Some fans aren't waiting.

Until the games are outright cancelled, they're technically in the right I guess. They are saying those tickets will still be honored. Now, if they cancel the seasons and the ticket guys are still squirming, then it's officially dirty pool. What they're doing now is still scummy because there's no way the leagues are completing the seasons and they know it, but it's hard to argue with with their stance until total cancellations are made official.

I would argue that you even would have a right to a refund in case of simple rescheduling.

It's insane imo. They should offer vouchers + free drinks or something instead of that.

To be fair, sitting at home under quarantine and waiting potentially forever for a refund is a pretty accurate extension of the baseball game experience. Maybe they're just trying to let their fans get their money's worth.

Not really. They bought and paid for X tickets on Y date. That didn’t happen. They didn’t buy into a contract where their money is held until maybe a date is decided (that likely wouldn’t work for them, since its not the Y date they bought tickets for).

Definitely feel for a person who bought tickets when life was good and income was stable, who’s since lost his job and wishing he had the money in his bank account instead of being held by the mlb for a ticket for a game that probably isn’t going to happen or has already passed.

In fairness, I haven't either, but I'd wager that they've dotted their i's and crossed their t's on this shit. Those ticket brokers have a sadistic attention to detail, when it comes to getting and keeping your money.

Like I said, until the seasons are outright cancelled(they will be), I would wager they have the legal right to do this. Not 100% sure, but I'd put the probability pretty high.

I know they’ve got everything in there that what the MLB is going, waiting until an “official” announcement to do anything except hold the money indefinitely, is 100% legal due to that fine print.

It’s just shit and hopefully the pressure makes them fold. This isn’t how you hold fans during a stoppage.
