Yeah what I said isn't precise, but it's the presence of Steam that enables that sort of aggressive DRM to work. Good for the industry obv.

Also, and that's like a mid-game number of cities lolz. Civ 6 rewards super aggressive expansion all game, unlike 5. Gets so much worse!

Developers can and do distribute DRM free games through steam. Most notable being Kerbal Space Program which I happen to have about 12 versions of running through CKAN.

It's PUBLISHERS that are instituting Denuvo and the like for their games. Valve honestly couldn't give two shits about DRM as long as they get their cut from the sale.
