For consumers, maybe given that they're not doing enterprise numbers of reads and writes. Enterprise level though, HDDs are absolutely preferred due to the hardware limitation. A hard drive that doesn't have to spin up and down but once a patch tuesday can last for a decade or more. When that SSD reaches it's hard limit of P/E cycles (which can be incredibly fast at the enterprise level), it's donezo.

I edited my last post but even budget SSDs have an endurance rating of over 200 TBW nowadays. But yeah I don't do anything fancy.

To the US? I never read anything about it. Plenty of guns were smuggled into the occupied six counties though.

Feels weird I grew up at the tail end of the time when an IRA bomb would get CNN spots where they talked about/reported on it but never knew a lot about everything. I know there's two version of the IRA now. The IRA and then the Real IRA where one is more militant than the other as the other is the old dudes that survived all the dust up in the 80s and 90s and don't want to blow up Churches anymore.

Actually at the tail end of the Troubles there were four. The OIRA and the PIRA, the Provos being the most powerful of course. Then you have the RIRA and the CIRA. The RIRA was responsible for the Omagh bombing I believe and the Provos went after them.

Ultimately the death of Bobby Sands and the international sympathy it gathered caused Sinn Fein to grab some power. Which led to the decommissioning. The CIRA and RIRA did not abide by the treaty.

oh nah, the ssds I test (m.2/nvme, pcie etc.) in the 512gb & up club stay at the office in servers/raids etc. I get to keep the 128gb/256gb ssds to test out personally, although I've been slacking lately.

I do have a few 2tb SSHDs & HDDs (2.5" aka laptop drives) on hand if you're interested. SSHDs are Solid State Hybrid Drives, that still have disks, but they have flash memory too in order to boost performance/efficiency.

it's recommended to not use SSDs for storage. like my machine right now, I have an SSD +SSHD combo. the SSD is meant for my OS (W10) & the SSHD has all my programs installed, & 'shopped images/templates/fap folder etc. basically, you want an SSD to run shit that you use frequently, not to store shit you hardly use. this is why FireCudas (SSHD) are an instant 'go to' for gamers. hope this makes sense.

The originals Irish Republican army we're active in the 20s decades before the provos, revived it iin the 60s, continuity carried on after the good Friday agreement cos they didn't want to give up arms, so called real ira are the most recent and active, but number a few dozens with no broad support among Catholics in Ireland, a distinction must be made between north and south, they have little to no support outside of border counties and parts of Belfast / derry.
The omagh bomb caused such blowback for Republicans, most neutrals don't distinguish between the various factions, that combined with Republicans being riddled with informers and getting busted, ops going wrong, and general pr disasters, the leadership finally abandoned Bombing their way to Irish unity. Bobby sands and the hunger strikers actually hardened attitudes against Republicans, even though they were martyr figures, and folk heroes amongst Sinn Fein supporters. I'd say omagh and the enniskillen bomb during rememberance Sunday was the end of armed struggle. International opinion turned against them big time, especially in the states.
