One year after Bernie Sanders wins the election
Yikes. Hilarious that she wears the hijab but ended up not only committing adultery but doing so with a married man and all in her first term on Capitol Hill. She seems like a hypocritical social climber type, really not a fan of such people.
I'll wager communist Russia was indeed a bleak shithole, but Bernie's socialism is 100x closer to FDR's new deal than Stalins thingamajiggie.
Hijab is supposed to represent modesty, being an adulteress is not modest. To wear that is like dressing like an Orthodox Jew, it signals that you're taking an extra commitment in practicing one's religion.Dude....Kafir, this is a really ugly post.
You, as much as anyone, should know that being Muslim is every bit as much about ethnic identity as it is about ideology. I mean, for fuck sake, does she pretend to be a strict adherent to the Quran? She supports gay marriage, she supports secularism and religious pluralism, etc.
I'm circumcised. That's a Judaic custom. And I have fucked a whole lot before marriage, despite sex it being repeatedly forbidden in the Old Testament. Should I glue some bologna over the end of my dick to keep from being a hypocrite?
Saying anything that appears like "the USSR wasn't so bad" isn't a good look. I may be liberal but I appreciate capitalism is what made the US so wealthy, and cutting that fine line between fostering economic growth and supporting people is the best we can do.I mean....not literally, visually so. It's not like it was Industrial Revolution London.
Look at it more like someone wearing a cross , for some it is very important and some it doesn't mean much at all ,to many it's just an article of clothing.Hijab is supposed to represent modesty, being an adulteress is not modest. Adultery something that I'd find ugly whether or not she's Muslim but its worse with her. The fact of the matter is whether I or Ilhan or anyone else likes it or not as a visible Muslim politician she ends up representing us. And I don't think she''s represented us well.

The hijab is imbued with a lot more religious significance. I've personally never met a girl who wears a hijab and just treats it like an article of clothing. Even the hijabis who are really just fashionistas at heart will at least have a pretense that their wearing of it is tied to modesty.Look at it more like someone wearing a cross , for some it is very important and some it doesn't mean much at all ,to many it's just an article of clothing.
No, I meant the economy, the industry, the culture, the liberty, was all a shithole under true communist control. In many ways russia still hasn't recovered
So pointing out that Russia didn't suddenly change climate between 1917 and 1991 is a step too far for you?
I mean, I guess I'm sorry that this comes as some shock to you, but....yeah, the USSR wasn't so bad that that it blocked out the sun.

EDIT: Also how did you get dubs?!
Well let's see what Ilhan herself says about why she wears hijabOkay, but it's not like it's a voluntary individual choice of moral messaging in Somalian culture. It's a universal cultural custom. If you google "women in Somalia," you'll see that nearly every single one is covering their hair. Do you believe that, if a Somali woman is to engage in sex outside of marriage, they need to signal that they have vacated their ethnic identity?
Those are her exact words there. Now I get that the reasons some articulate as to why they do something isn't necessarily the real reason, we can be influenced by things unconsciously or not care to openly say the real reason. But she certainly claims to wear it for faith based reasons, not cultural ones, so her explicit reasoning behind why she wears the hijab is at odds with her adulterous behavior....for me it was a choice that I made to have a visual representation of my faith
The beard would be the closest thing. Its not a symbol of modesty but tends to be a signal of piety, especially if its groomed according to some specific hadith tradition like the way Khabib's beard is.I also just don't think it's a sustainable expectation, since there isn't (to my knowledge) a comparable required symbol of chastity for men, and adultery by men in the Muslim world is nearly as high as it is here iirc.
They're still not wearing it as just a piece of clothing. If their parents expected it, then they aren't just making them wear it just to wear it and they are almost certainly from a more religious household. If they keep wearing it they almost certainly carry some of that religious significance of the hijab with them. Its not like the way the headscarf was worn by women in America in like the 50s(which I wish would make a comeback).Ive know Muslim girls who have worn the hijab just because that's the way they dress , parents expect it and they were just used to it .
This is through the international school where my wife teaches so they are quite young when we know them which might skew things .
I like to watch this vlogger who travels around Eastern Europe and based on only his videos all of that seems very true about Russia and other ex-Soviet states except the sunless part, its usually beautiful out.Haha, funny.
Also, a nice representation of how ludicrously Russia (particularly Soviet era Russia) is depicted in American media as a dreary, shabby hellscape. One of my favorite dramas ever was The Americans, but it was one of the worst about that, where Russia was depicted as this sunless, dingy pit of despair.
We're supposed to go out to dinner but Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade is on
If I could change the subject, I'd like to note that Pete's ties always look fabulous.
Serious, image search him. They're nearly all blue. He needs some diversity in his tie game and his demographics game.
