Well if you really want to...
Lmao I missed you.
I've really started to hate Rollins over the last 5-10 years. Dude is a giant narcissist.
He's super autistic to the point he's pretty much asexual.

I respect your opinion of course, but it's a common thing where we enjoy the fruits of a chemical imbalance and then reject them because said fruit is bruised.

Also everyone is a narcissist in that context. There's a chance I'm being overly defensive because he's a hero of mine and I accept that but I fail to see what you mean.

lol

Forgot about the Romeo and Juliet flick. lol x2.
Lol fuck you, respectfully of course. That movie was fire. That soundtrack thoooo?

I read Hemingway and Shakespeare when I was ten and it ruined me lmao. I became a jaded romantic as a child.

John in Romeo and Juliet was amazing. The Prince of Cats was written as an excellent flashy swordsman so John trained with a flamenco dancer.

Bruh you want to hear about my idealistism? I ran an expose newspaper with reviews when I was in the fifth grade and I... Consistently wrote about that movie lmao. That VHS was always in the player lol. Also my expose of a fifth grade teacher mocking a kid who shit his pants might me my defining work as a writer lmao.
When I was 10, I got yelled at and punished by a teacher for a short story I wrote. “Tonni, your story was really horrible and disgusting. I couldn’t believe the terrible things you came up with, and you had the audacity to hand that in?”

<2>

I also designed an album cover in class, we had to use some magazines and cut out images we liked. My magazine happened to have a couple of pages of male butts in it.

If something is unknowable and people want to place bets that's cool. But that doesn't obligate me to take a position.
No, and I’m not trying to pin you down, either. I’m just making sense of the terms, and I don’t see a meaningful difference between agnostic and atheist (you either believe or you don’t).

There's a difference between sayin "no" and "I don't know".

If only he'd been a product of Hawaii rather than Washington D.C. he'd have learned that love and tolerance.
He'd probably be even angrier. Too muscle bound to surf and we all know that the most unhappy and angry people in Hawaii are the ones who don't want to surf

I thought he was ok back in the early 90s.

Then I got his spoken word double cassette. And not only did I discover he was a narcissist, he was also a bitter and angry hater and haven't paid any attention to him since.
And he's a total "wait to talk" dick. Never listens or cares about what his guest/ host is saying.

Unlike the locals who need to guard their spot. Goddamn whitey. But hey, shit rolls downhill.

He's autistic and seems like he has Aspergers. But that's a cool way to treat people with chemical imbalances. He took the trans Siberian Railroad only because of the rarity of the experience and the difficulty of it.

This seems like another example of the perpetual demonization of what makes artists create art and continues the age old tradition of belittling autistic people.

Who else has done was Rollins has done in modern history?

I knew he had a tv show, never watched it but no surprise that’s what he was like.

Did you listen to his spoken word release at all? He spent a lot of time talking shit about other bands.. he sounded like a little kid

You're fine, your defense of HR is expected and totally understandable. I hate to be critical of HR because he was such an important beast, but he just hasn't aged gracefully.
We can appreciate the art without liking the person. Also, as artists become more financial comfortable, and life becomes easier, they tend, at least in my observation, there are exceptions of course, they tend to lose their edge.

Which island you on?

You just need to make friends with a local who surfs and he takes you with him. That’s all there is to it.

I did listen to some of his spoken word, but I don't recall that. It doesn't surprise me.

Agree with this. Agnostics too often mix up "we don't know the answer" with "each possibility is equally likely," which is a big part of the stupid hedging I mentioned to @Trotsky.

It's not a super uplifting answer, but there's one "not 100% certain" option that's much more rationally defensible than the rest (if you're committed to that sort of thing).
Right where I’m at with it. Though I’m agnostic as to what that means about me.

Hawaii.

Locals aren't that friendly, unless they're more white than brown. The transplants are like ex-pats here. Gotta befriend each other or go without.

Brother, I didn't even know HR was autistic (which isn't a chemical imbalance btw) Regardless, I'm not going to lie about my opinion of him because he has done amazing things and contributed greatly to his medium. Peter Sellers was a cunt. I'm not shitting on him because he's an alcoholic and ignoring his comedic genius by saying that.

It's called autism and he has severe ADHD, I realize I'm probably overly defensive as someone on the spectrum and he's my hero.

Look bro, ADHD and Autistic people get this shit levied at us nonstop. Go back and watch the Rogan interview and watch his eyes, he addresses every topic in the only ways he knows how.

I appreciate it. I hope you realize that I can be dramatic about a subject and still love a homie lol.

I don't think HR lost his edge. I like him mostly as a writer/orator. He didn't become comfortable as he got more money, he went to warzones. I highly disagree with a lot of the sentiments in this thread, respectfully of course.

Nah. I'm not demonizing artists nor am I belittling people with autism. But, I guess in a way you can say that I am belittling his art. But to belittling the fact that he is an artist or that he has autism (which I only learned just now from you)

I haven't seen the interview I'll check it out and apply some empathy now that I know he has autism/ ADHD (I was shocked to find out David Byrne wasn't on the spectrum).
And I appreciate that he's a hero of yours, my dislike of his personality doesn't take anything away from him.
