Social War Room Lounge Thread #325: PotWR Edition

What parts of the city that you've seen tends to be the worse?
You have to live in a border state to understand. There are lots of people who are legal that still don't speak the English language well so it's impossible to know the impact unless you are working in those fields. You can't know who is legal and who is not when it's so mixed

Do you still live near the border or have you moved out to an area that is less congested?

It's not near the border. They like anyone gravitate to the larger cities to find work. I live in Houston which is about three and a half hours from the border. But this city has the highest rate of sex trafficking mostly from the border. They will always gravitate to the cities of course

Hahaha. I get it and I'm usually the one advocating for that yet here I am arguing nonsense in the lounge. Sorry boss

In other news, a record high temp was set here in Far East Canuckistan yesterday of 39.5C. 103.5 in freedom units. And that's not counting the "feels like" temp due to humidity.

Discuss.

Even the good ones? I guess some people think they're all good while others think they're all bad... {<shrug}

PS I meant to write immigrants not illegals. I'm all for processing the ones that have a legal claim and deporting the illegal ones.
There aren't any good illegals.

Yes but you are counting all of the Union states that don't take illegals anyway and won't even let any private group work in construction without being in unions. I have watched picketing lines outside of a Dunkin' Donuts in Massachusetts for some concrete work because they were not Union. That is a lot of the East and Midwest.
I started off with national figures and then you said you were talking about Texas. Now that I talk about Texas you're saying I'm ignoring union states? Come on now.
You ignore that even Hispanic vote went up with Trump because of a lot of this stuff where they are taking jobs for peanuts and not paying decent wage. There are problems no matter how you spin it
What is this based on exactly? If anything wages and consumer spending went up during the period of immigration.

Anyway do you think most Hispanics agre with Trump's crackdown?

Lets carry this into a thread. Im good in here

But what Islam fails to realize is that even my Mexican in-laws don't want more illegals to take away their jobs and water down the pay. Border states are more highly affected and it's a real issue whether he wants to realize that or not. His comments on immigration and the need for construction workers takes into account all of the Union States throughout the Northeast and Midwest. They need them but they will not take illegals as far as I'm aware. There's a reason the Hispanic vote increased with Trump
The construction worker shortage exists in Texas too.

Yes many immigrants want to pull the ladder up from behind them after they get in, they're also bozos.

Cheers brother. I hope the day though hot treated you right
We got a bit of relief from the heat today, still hot AF but moving in the right direction. Everything is dry as a popcorn fart though. There's a very high risk of fires with little rain in the forecast.

On a personal basis, been a pretty nasty hot with a chance of conflagration too, but there are signs of cooling there too so here's to hoping for rain before sparks.

Love gyoza. Dude there are times im envious. Never cooked some of that stuff but love it
To go with it we had this incredible yet bland-sounding soup the missus makes from napa cabbage and shiitake mushroom, and the least boring (however boring sounding) fried rice you can imagine.
