Social War Room Lounge Thread #325: PotWR Edition

You know it's true, that's why you can say nothing.
Well, its mostly fantasy.
It’s 100% fantasy
If you guys think deregulation of zoning rules around housing is a fantasy it just shows how insulated in your bubbles you two are, it's one of the most talked about issues in local and state politics around the country with the tide turning against NIMBYs all across America in both red and blue states/cities.

Insulated in our bubbles? You mean, we actually live in the places you create fantasiesb about changing?

I feel like Im pretty in tune with current events and politics, but you're the only one I see talking about this.

You're in tune with meaningless culture war nonsense and meme culture, not real world politics.

Yes insulated in your upper middle to upper class suburb where the housing crisis is not a big deal because those suffering from it are have-nots that you see as your outgroup(i.e.lower middle to middle class households and immigrants).

We have a lot of land, my friend. Realize your potential and get out there and build the community of your dreams.

I guess we can't all be like our liberal friends who are infatuated with J6, funding Ukraine and preventing deportations.

Oh trust me it's going to happen and when the NIMBY dam breaks and the housing market is unleashed you'll see neighborhoods all around you transformed. Didn't you leave Austin because of YIMBY reforms? Soon there won't be many NIMBY enclaves left and the country will be better off for it.

I doubt it. But good news for those that want a house, the boomers are dying off and moving into retirement communities. The problem is going to work itself out before people resort to living in sheds in someone's backyard.

You have no idea what you're talking about, you were barely aware of the issue before I brought it up to you. So like I said, stick to memes.

That’s exactly right. Islam wants higher estate taxes though if I recall. So Blackrock will buy those homes and rent them(YAY! - Islam) and the boomers kids get less inheritance(YAY! -Jack V Savage)

That sounds awful.

I just want to live in a village at this point.

I said I don't see people talking about your childish rezoning fantasies. That doesn't mean I'm unaware of the issues with the housing market.

I did not.

That’s really sad for you to think that’s possible.

It’s within you to realize your dream. Build the community of the future.
That sounds awful.

I just want to live in a village at this point.
Seriously. Islam would have Blackrock renting to everyone while the few people who can afford it would put pods in their backyards and rent to the rest. This is all the while there are no zoning regulations and people can operate their businesses right next to were children play.
The American dream. Not a pod in sight.
Good man. There are those among us that want to take this away.

There is definitely at least one.

If you haven't heard of rezoning in the context of the housing crisis then it's because you're completely clueless on the subject.

Again, stick to memes.

If you keep repeating then it becomes true.

Yes Rob's strawman of my position sounds awful, good thing I don't believe that.
I did not.

That’s really sad for you to think that’s possible.
Why is it sad that I want more housing and less homelessness?
It’s within you to realize your dream. Build the community of the future.
Kinda hard when it's outlawed by NIMBYs.
Seriously. Islam would have Blackrock renting to everyone while the few people who can afford it would put pods in their backyards and rent to the rest. This is all the while there are no zoning regulations and people can operate their businesses right next to were children play.
Oh no, businesses where children are playing?! How will they ever survive?
The American dream. Not a pod in sight.
The average home size in the 1950s was under 1000 sqft, the American Dream back then would be seen as living in a "pod" according to you.
There is definitely at least one.
Yeah, you and Mr Holmes.
Et tu, Brute?
