Can I be your friend?I took some of my japanese friends to my parents house for a weekend to ride horses, shoot guns and fish. I remember Kioko, my buddy Nao's wife making the pickled plum kind at our house. They were great. She would give them to her kids for breakfast or snack.

Interesting. It would not have crossed my mind to go with plum. Then again, I'm a beginner.That sounds good. Way to go. Onigiri is terrifically handy
She usually uses either pickled plum or smoked salmon. I adore both.
They opened a T&T in a nearby town last summer. It's an Asian specialty supermarket and it's absolutely incredible. I was cooking a lot of Indian dishes before, but it made me switch to Japanese and Chinese food.
