The US, Britain and Candian soldiers attacked German strongholds, not at Calais where false intel had indicated, but at Normandy, with the resultant bittersweet victory and massive losses estimated at over 40K, but eventual routing of the die Pest.
I feel especially for the tank operators launched from the LSTs nearing Omaha Beach who, due to poor weather and turbulent seas, were deployed well away from shore and a full 60% of them never made it to shore. Tank underwater, drowned soldiers.
Such a waste of humanity. For what? French chicks still don't shave their smelly pits, French wine is still overrated and
Germany still produces the best cars, cameras and watches.
Sadly a new Tyrant and Dictator has taken over in most of Europe over the years.
