I have no idea tbh...but their definition, and the number they cite "45 in 46 months" is incredibly dishonest and obviously used to generate fear, or fuel for partisan talking points.

eg: "you're against gun regulation?? HOW DARE YOU!! DID YOU KNOW THERE WERE 45 SCHOOL SHOOTINGS LAST YEAR!?!?"

Including BB guns definitely undermines any argument they are attempting to make. Looking at the list there's only (edit) two I see which are listed as BB gun incidents, but there's a few which don't specify that could be. If it's not a large number of those cases I can't understand why they'd undermine their own article by including them.

Edit: Admittedly this does sound messed up, "Two men entered the playground at Greenhalge Elementary School and shot indiscriminately at children with BB guns, hitting five children. Two injured children were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries." It's just not at a comparable level though. Although reading that link they also assumed that they were "men" and not boys, which vastly changes things.
