This is a rare opportunity for your type to converse with someone like me. One would think you would be more respectful, spend less time with the boring insults and more time getting advice how to improve yourselves. Seems like you guys certainly could use that.

Just quoting so its there for posterity

So far this has been like watching Dice Clay make his comeback. The words are the same but the dude seems really tired.

It's nothing about being a prodigy, although that probably helps some. Medical school doesn't require a ton of deep thought. The material is very simple to understand. It's broad reaching, but very shallow. It's all just simple rote memorization. If you can memorize material quickly, you don't need to spend as much time studying. Probably 15% of students attended classes and then study some each night. That always seemed incredibly inefficient to me. Why spend 1-2 hours sitting in a lecture when you can read through the powerpoint on your own in 15 minutes? So while these other students may have spent a ton more time in class and studying, it was all very inefficient work. I got all the powerpoints, locked myself in a room, and crammed for like 16 hours x 4 days. It was always a month of vacation, 4 days of sheer terror, and then relief. Worked well for me, anyway.

That would still result in you being a shitty doctor now. Cramming can work to get you through exams, but not to actually learn the material.

...but since I think you are full of it, I doubt you are out there killing people unintentionally.

I'm still here, haha. Just not a full-time poster, I guess. And thank you for the mention. I really appreciate that.

Your contribution in some of the BLM threads, culminating in this post, was fantastic. Candidate for post of the year.

Very little of medical school is actually relevant to the practice of medicine, especially if you end up in a specialized field. The first two years is basic science classes. The third is clinical rotations through a variety of specialties (like medicine, pediatrics, surgery, obgyn, family medicine). The fourth is mostly electives. Residency/fellowship is where you really learn your craft.

daily reminder that @Jack V Savage is a pathological liar and almost everyone that frequents this forum thinks he's a retard

Funny, I remember a lot of pre-med students being in my biology, and chemistry classes. So I'm pretty sure basic science, and even more is handled before medical school.

If your going to troll, do a little research.

Maybe you should do a little research first yourself.

You do not know the humblebragging of teh Dr Lubedschlong, by basic sciences he really meant post graduate level shit, geez guiz

The guy who taught you a lesson over the span of 8 pages and made you run away

Nope, not ringing a bell.

I remember running into an idiot with a Big Boss avatar that could not argue his way into a free movie recently...oh that was you. Here I thought your metal problems might have been temporary. My condolences.

It's not my terminology. That's just what it's called. Here's the top hit in my Google search, from the Association of American Medical Colleges:

Report on American Allopathic Medical School Curricula
How the basic science curriculum is structured (M1-M2) - AAMC

I. Basic Science Curriculum Structure
Medical schools in the United States divide the traditional basic sciences during the first two
years but with variation in the timing, presentation, and integration of material. The traditional
classes include: Anatomy, Biochemistry, Cell biology, Evidence Based Medicine, Genetics,
Histology, Immunology, Introduction to Clinical Medicine, Microbiology, Neuroscience,
Pathology, Pharmacology, and Physiology.....

Hey @Lubaolong

Excuse me, Dr. Lubaolong,

You should start a medically themed thread where people ask you questions about their health concerns.

It would be a smashing success imo.

And here is the definition of "basic sciences" from McGraw-Hill Concise Dictionary:

Preclinical medicine Graduate education The 2-3 yr period of medical school, that precedes clinical instruction and training, which provides a core of basic knowledge...
