It never has been, but tallying up the mentions and declaring winners (with the backing of a mod) moves in that direction.

Imo most people would skate by this completely barring your grievances

I appreciate the mention, but I don't identify with the left on the whole enough to be considered one.

I don't think I've ever seen an official tally. Lots of one-off categories.

Alright, I tallied up the votes. Hard to gauge some responses because people often didnt say out-and-out who was best; if multiple people were nominated equally and simultaneously by the same person, I added 1 to each count.

Hahaha, I fully expect that you will receive plenty of grievances for this, including from those who formerly talked shit on the idea of @Lead adding a multi poll to this thread with the top nominees from each official category, "because that would be too formal", but now suddenly realized they actually want to vote afterall.

I must acknowledge your dedication though, digging through 45 pages full of smacktalks to track down the actual nomination posts can't possibly be a fun excercise for your eyes. This is why I recommended @Lead to split this thread into two early on, one for official nominations only, the other for smacktalking.

i think the mods are pretty cool. they let some mad debates happen, and seem pretty impartial. i dont think you are ever going to get complete neutrality, because all sites will be centric to one region and some things will be cool if said about x but not about y etc,. but i noticed there doesnt seem to be bias towards posters or a proclivity to stifle debate. which is nice.

Tbh most posts weren't about nominations at all so I was able to skim it pretty quick
