War Room Awards 2016

Status
Not open for further replies.
My nominations:

  • Best All Around Poster: @panamaican. Brings a level headed and far less vitriolic approach to posting here than most other people could possibly muster. Someone who's comments I actually regularly read and say to myself "good point." There's a reason I endorsed this guy for WR President.
  • Worst All Around Poster: @EvilWasLittle. Just a big ol wet blanket, this guy. Would be in the running for Best Shit Poster but he is almost never funny.
  • Best Shit Poster: @Palis. Cracks me up with his rambling, in particular the frenetic lobbying in our WR Presidential contest. I couldn't tell you a single thing he has ever said, but i've definitely laughed. An import from the Sports Bar, but hopefully will stick around if the election doesn't go his way.
  • Best Threads: @Diamond Jim. I always look forward to this guy's threads. He has a knack for good content and they prompt a lot of worthy conversation
  • Worst Threads: @vespasian. Just relentlessly bad threads that are best avoided. No way to read those turds without getting a shit mustache in the process.
  • Best Liberal Shill and Best Conservative Hack: @Jack V Savage is hands down the best Liberal Shill on here. He regularly takes on multiple people at once regardless of the issue, and is particularly long winded when it comes to the economy. His dedication to Hillary Clinton was both entirely genuine and also unsurpassed on this site. Honorable mention to @Rod1. On the flip side is @Hans Gruber. This ol sourpuss is red through and through and he gets my nod for best Conserative Hack. I can't remember ever seeing Hans even begin to approach anything resembling an olive branch with the other side and that kind of entrenched resilience must be respected.
  • Best Unassuming Moderate: @HomerThompson takes this one easily imo. Even handed but not a pussy, hard to tell on any given day exactly how he is gonna come down on a particular issue.
  • Most Racist: @SouthoftheAndes. Pretty damn unabashedly racist, even by War Room standards. Although it's kind of refreshing to see a guy on here largely own his bigotry and shoot from the hip with it. Honorable mention to @shadow_priest_x.
  • Best Election Coverage: @sodapopinski needs the acknowledgment here for his absolutely tireless efforts in the wikileaks threads. Dear lord in heaven, this guy is a machine and his thread popularity reflected that. While his coverage was pretty focused on that one specific area, it was so thorough and back breakingly relentless that there really isn't any competition here.

Your cabinet is full of too many liberals.

@sodapopinski is the undisputed Mr. Social Media.

Virtually every threads I have ever made in regards to the election debates, riots, or shootouts was augmented in some way by his uncanny ability to sniff out the most up-to-date materials from Twitter/Instagram/YouTube.

Some folks hate on him for that on the basis that "he doesn't actually add his own opinions", I say his contribution adds much to the breaking-news nature of the discussions.

Best Poster: IngaVovchanchyn
Worst Poster: A tie between 'Rational Poster', Thames, and Gervinho
Most Intellectually Dishonest/Biggest Liar: @Ruprecht and Orgasmo

Who's the saltiest/most in denial poster since the election?
I dubbed this award "Get Over It, She Lost Award" and gave it to Diamon Jim, but that was hasty, this is probably the most competitive category.

Tbh I expected more meltdowns. I feel like it was kind of a tempest in a tea pot this time around. Maybe everyone just hated the whole process so much that even with Hillary losing to who and how she did, my fellow lefites and I couldnt really drag up the energy to totally freak out. Plenty of salt to go around but I really feel like we should have had some major meltdowns.

Not even from America and the process felt like years and their names were constantly in the media. Plus Wikileaks adding fuel and Russia being mentioned all the time. I did enjoy the ride though, especially with the WR.

I think the incorrect expectations simply reflect a huge gap in how liberal and right-wing posters look at politics. Like, I want good policy and the name and identity of the person signing/vetoing laws, implementing environmental policy, etc. is pretty irrelevant. I think Clinton would have been fine, and Trump will probably be really bad, but we'll see. I'll freak out if and when we start seeing bad policy and bad outcomes. But a lot of right-wingers don't know or care about policy, and it was all about the identity politics, and wanting their guy in office (or not wanting a liberal). So they were more emotionally invested in the outcome of the election and less invested in policy.

He deserves something with a bit more prestige. Like Worst Mod or something.

Lol naw, hes just the new booty in blue becoming accustomed to his new found non-penis gourd magic.

We all know madmick has the worst mod award on lock. Dude just loves to unnecessarily moderate.

Mick's a good mod. Kind of trolly as a poster (though entertaining), but I have the highest respect for his modding.

We have a really good bunch now, IMO. I think Zank gets my vote this year for Most Improved Poster.

At least Mick has some style and personality in his posts. Rupert is as exciting as reading technical manuals. :(

I will revisit this thread when work isn't hell on earth and I actually feel like posting again, but a few quick shout-outs.

@Arkain2K makes great threads and the indexes make his OP's the best on Sherdog, and it's not even close. I know how much work and effort it takes to make threads worthwhile on Sherdog and that's exactly what Arkain does (for free). Be appreciative of his efforts.

The best thread was, by far (and one of the best in Sherdog history), the 2016 Live Presidential Election thread.
