I don't get people who have over a dozen pair of shoes.

why TF do you need so many?

I mean, I have maybe 3 three pairs of sneakers/MetCons, and 2 pairs of dress shoes. how about you guys?

One pair each of motorcycle boots, sneakers (usually trainers like Asics Budokans), hiking boots (which can pass as dress shoes under slacks), ugg boots (strictly for home) and thongs (for everywhere. Current preference is Kustom Noodle Supreme thongs).

Caught the end of the restaurant discussion in the last thread.
Most expensive meal I've had out hear was taking my folks and my gf to Salty's on Alki.
Any Ethan Stowell restaurant is a good bet
For Steak, Jak's Grill in West Seattle is great. Metropolitan Grill downtown is supposed to be very good.

One pair of dress shoes that I almost never wear, and one pair of casual shoes that I wear a lot. Also a couple of pairs of casual shoes that are still OK to wear that I didn't want to throw away.

- Flip flops
- Daily dress shoes for work
- Nicer dress shoes for special occasions
- Winter boots (that double as hunting boots)
- Black boots for casual Wednesdays and when I was at the bar
- Steel toe boots
- Old bar shoes from Red Wings
- Gym shoes
- Sneakers

That sounds about right. At any given time I basically have:

1 pair of nice tennis shoes
1 pair of old tennis shoes for yard work
1 pair of work boots
2 pairs of dress shoes (brown and black)
1 pair of boat shoes
1 pair of running shoes

It sounds like a lot when I type it out, but in reality it seems sort of minimalist.

Met Grill is good, slightly overrated but good.

I went to Ascend in Bellevue over the weekend.

spent 300 dollars on steak, cocktails and sides
the steaks were A La Carte.

it was delicious, but I was thinking, "jesus fuck, that's expensive for one meal.

what do you spend an inordinate amount of cash on?

Golf Clubs?
guns?
clothes?

None of the above. Student loan payments and charitable contributions.

My roommate can't make mashed potatoes. Jesus Christ. Keep running into big old hunks of unmashed potatoes in my lunch.

These aren't like little smaller than bite sized pieces of potato. These are like whole rounds of russet that aren't even banged up/rounded on the edges and still have a slight bite to them type potato.

Wait....your roommate fixes your lunch for you?

Your roommate?

Greg, is your roommate actually your gay man companion?

This is actually one of the areas of expenditures that I do understand, because shoes get a lot of wear over time and having a lot of them spreads out that wear. And there are definite differences in quality of materials and labor between cheap and expensive shoes. So it's an investment and the shoes remain good for as long as you live.

Meanwhile, with high-priced cuisine, like @Jack V Savage so likes to enjoy, it is my understanding that the vast majority of price differences is rents to the provider, with only marginal differences in prices of ingredients.

No, he makes dinner most nights cause he knows what his kid and girlfriend will eat as anything past salt and pepper they both consider spicy. I just take the leftovers to use as my lunch the next day. Last night we had mashed potatoes and like Swedish meatballs and the potatoes leave a lot to be desired. The trip tip steak is good but it's starting to get that "old" taste that leftover meat can take on after being in the fridge awhile.

EDIT:
He used to insist on making lunches on Sunday for the whole week and I put the kibosh on it because all our leftovers from dinners ended up in the trash so we were wasting money there and because I found I was the one forking the dough over for the meal prep every Sunday in addition to the Traeger pellets more often.

Yeah, I love a good meal as much as anyone else, but I have a hard time justifying >$100 per person, even with exceptional food, drinks and service. I'm more likely to cook a fancy multi-course meal on my own for special occasions.

Swedish meatballs. His meat getting an old taste. I think I get what you're saying

Gregory, the fresh new feeling of a budding romance may fade and his meat may begin to lose some of that initial zest, but the time you put in will pay out deeper, more emotional dividends.

From memory

One pair of sneakers, also double as workout and running shoes. Basically my every days
Two pairs hiking boots, also my everydays in winter months
One pair heavy duty insulated winter/hunting boots
2 pairs steel toes, one is lighter weight for summer heat
One pair of thigh high waders (does that count as shoes?) for duck hunting and fishing
One pair cheap brown dress shoes
One pair cheap black dress shoes
One pair sandals
One pair flip flops, mostly used as shower shoes at gym
Two pairs of slippers

Even that puts me close to or at a dozen shoes, and I thought I had very few compared to most
