Just bought a punching bag few months ago and have been working on it during free time.

Very nice :) Good power.

Good power, just don't telegraph it when you drop your weight to the left. Make it a quick movement.

Move this to the Stand-Up discussion.

Can't see lead foot too well, looks like you are pivoting a bit ... Maybe a little more pivot on front foot.

Try not to lose position on rear foot on each hook.

Just my 2 cents. Looks like you are working on it, though, good job!

Good job posting yourself here, too. Not sure you are in the right forum room, though.

Also keep those hands high after recoiling back. You have a small tendency to drop the left hand after the strike. Not bad but a few inches higher would be better.

Just remember don't telegraph and don't leave the left side of your face open when you're winding up.

Don't even wind up, actually. Just throw it from your stance.

A real left hook with your feet planted is supposed to almost graze the bag not actually dig into it.

Pads > Heavy bag if you're working on technique. Especially hooks and uppercuts.

Why isn't your head tilted at a 45 degree angle while you're throwing those punches?

Might I also add that you lean back a little bit more as the strike is being released. It gives it more whip due to your weight shifting backwards. It also keep you from getting countered.

I agree with the others about your pause before throwing the hook, it could become a bad habit. The dip and hook should be one smooth motion which should almost come naturally if your feet are positioned well and you're pivoting properly. It's only the start but at least you're trying to improve which is more than many others can say.

post the full video, without editing it. :D

When you throw the hook, your body should be rotating circular. Not from left to right. The circular momentum is what creates the power. To practice, try hanging your arm like limp noodle and then doing it. When done properly, you'll be able to whip your arm close to full power.

I guess it's ok for self teaching. Stop resetting the bag with your hand unless you're using the hand to punch it.

have you tried throwing them without the little pivot and without taking the back foot off the ground? You have power, but you'd get even more. You could drop down into them more. Like others have said, speed and telegraphing are issues. By the time you have loaded up, he has probably pivoted away, or is waiting to block and counter. Perhaps try throwing three of them in a row each time, as fast as you can with good form, to develop more speed.
