we have a FW fighting at 170 tomorrow for the first time. It seems a lot of people really exaggerate the size advantages at the lower weights.
If the weight classes had the same limits as HW, welterweight to lhw would all fight each other. So in the same sense, there is little thought of why conor could not easily fight at 170 or even 185.
Henderson was beaten soundly by a WW in Jake Shields, yet had no problem with former HW pride and M1 title holder Fedor.
BJ Penn arguably beat Machida at HW, yet BJ penn could not get past a matt hughes 3 out of 3 times.
Rumble Johnson losing to koscheck, yet is knocking people out and fighting at both HW and LHW. Yeah yeah, Johnson was drained. Well he couldn't have felt that bad at the weight if he fought there a few times.
Is Mcgegor going to fight at HW? Probably not. But I wouldn't be suprised if this time next year he's fighting at MW or regularly at WW. That would make WW very interesting again. Perhaps interesting enough for GSP to return?
