SAN FRANCISCO (FOX 13) - It's everyday wear -- and it's bulletproof.

Vy Tran is the founder of the company Wonder Hoodie, and created bulletproof clothing that includes a hoodie, denim jacket and other items.

Tran came up with the idea after her neighbor was killed outside of her Seattle home during an armed robbery. She tried searching for bulletproof clothing, and was surprised at the lack of options out there. And what was available cost thousands of dollars.

"I couldn't find anything really made for women or children, or at a price point I could afford," she said.

So Tran set out to make the items herself, thanks to her background in material science.

Tran said the clothing is all made with dupont kevlar, noting the hoodies can even protect a person's head -- something a traditional bulletproof vest can't do.

According to Wonder Hoodie, the items all meet NIJ IIIA body armor standards and can defend against 357 Magnum, 44 Magnum, 9mm, .45, and hollow point ammunition, the company's website claims.

"This is just me doing my part to make sure that if someone like me or my mom or my little brother was looking for a product like this, it was made available to them," she said.

That doesn't mean the clothing comes cheap.

According to Wonder Hoodie's website, a kid's bullet-proof hoodie costs $450, while an adult-size hoodie starts at $595. The denim jacket, meanwhile, costs $525.

Tran said for every 10 bulletproof products sold, one will be donated to a public school teacher.

Would be interested in trying one of those on.

When the 7.62x39 AR build is done I'll take the VZ out with it and compare. :)

Thanks again for the stripper clips. For anyone reading, this gentleman was kind enough to hook me up out of the goodness of his own heart. Shipped on his own dime. Now that's a W&T Sherbro.

Thanks bud, it was my pleasure! I’m excited to see how the VZ-58 holds up to testing, I was surprised to see AKOU go through with it. Rob usually only tests more commonly available items. I’m guessing it will hold up just fine. A buddy of mine has an AR in 7.62, it’s a nice shooter. I had my eye on those KS47s that take AK mags, but I couldn’t justify it once problems started cropping up. They did make a generation 2, but I’m still not sold. I’ll let them (PSA) work out all the kinks first. The CMMG mutant is way too expensive for what it is. I keep toying with the idea of a AR in 308. I suppose I should make a decision before election time creeps up! What parts are you going to use for the build?

Can't say I'm interested in .308. But yeah, prices now are probably as good as they're gonna get.

Nothing too special on the 7.62x.39 AR. Picked up one of those skull-shaped lowers a few years back and am building something just for fun. Nothing special with the barrel. Will probably put a Geissele SSA-E on it. Not sure about an optic. Getting ready to send it out for cerakote (to match the upper that was painted when I bought it).

Not sure about an optic and I've got an M9 bayonet for it. :)

@Cubo de Sangre

Not interested in .308?.... For shame. Course with me having a 30-06 bolt gun a .308 seems like more of the same.

I own both a 30-06 (Tikka T3 Lite) and .308 (FNAR). Never really felt the urge to shoot either. Maybe it's just that I'm not a big dude and prefer less recoil.

Anybody know of a manufacturer that makes wood stocks or grips for ARs? I really like contrast between a nice wood stock and the mechanical look of an AR15. Something like this:

Look up Boyd's GunStocks

They're kind of like the go-to company for people building precision long guns that still want the wood stock instead of polymers or a chassis.

If anyone has a Kriss Vector Gen II and dislikes the amount of trigger take-up then this is for you.

It was easy enough (although my rail is a bitch to remove and she's got the scuffs to prove it). You can set it to whatever amount of take-up you prefer. Or eliminate it altogether, which is what I did.

* I have no personal experience with this outfit, but a buddy got a set of wood for his AR and seems to really dig it. It’s worth noting that he’s picky and not easy to please, so him being impressed is high praise as far as I’m concerned.

Sooo, I’ve been watching “Bosch” on Amazon. Not bad. Seems accurate. Michael Connelly wrote the books, ripping off Joseph Wambaugh.

So this pic is how Bosch carries in plainclothes.

Gun Right hand OWB at four o’clock, mags at eight o’vlock on the left side.

Aren’t the mags facing the wrong way?

Grabbing with the left hand, won't the mag be facing forward once rotated 90 degrees?

Hand finds hand...

If they were facing the other way, index finger is already in position on the grab...

Also you wouldn't have to break your strong hand grip if you used your left thumb to drop the slide release here.

They are opposite for me, yes.

Thanks. They are into their fifth season and he still carries them this way.
It’s a well produced show and I just can’t imagine their technical advisor fucking this up. Made me question my sanity.

I go with the left hand over the top of the slide slingshot release.

That Delta Goon from Sicario looked like he was sitting on an open bolt before they wasted those Cholos at the border.
