Let me just start by saying that Brock did great in UFC. I am not trying to poop on his career but I think he was in the right place and the right time and had a lot of luck.

I'm going to rate his oponents out of 10 by who brought their A game to Brock:

0/10 Min-Soo Kim : Nobody with more loses than wins, this was of course Brock's first fight so it's appropriate

8/10 Frank Mir I: Frank Mir is always awesome but he was still not the same following that tragic bike accident, still got the win though :)

7/10 Heath Herring : Fought a great fight but also loses a few points cause he was a little weathered, this was basically his retirement fight

6/10 Randy Couture : Not taking anything away from the man, he's a legend, but he was quite old and past his prime here. The results showed

2/10 Frank Mir II : Let's face it, the rivalry got kind of crazy and took a mental toll on Mir. Mir fought emotional and wreckless and went a little insane. He was all emotion and his head wasn't in the game. Throwing that sloppy kick cost him big. You could tell the whole time this was not Mir at his best

8/10 Shane Carwin : Not a good move to burn yourself out like he did, I think the belt at his grasp got the better of him and he played himself out. Big mistake

10/10 Cain Velasquez : No doubt Cain brought it and I believe this was Lesnar's biggest A game opponent

9/10 Alistair Overeem : Not much to say here, Overeem at his near best

I think you're really underrating Frank Mir at the time of their second fight. I think that was close to the best Mir we ever saw.

Carwin as well.

This is the only thing that matters in his run.

That sloppy knee that made him fall on his ass tho

To me, it's kind of like Arlovski when he fought Fedor or Chael in the second Anderson fight... A dumb mistake, but that was still the fighter at or near the peak of his abilities.

There was more to it than that too. The way Frank was talking, he was possessed. He was going on about how Lesnar would be the first UFC death and etc etc, like he wanted to kill him.

That kind of mentality couldn't allow him to fight clear which is what I think caused the knee mistake

Sure he was jacked but his head wasn't screwed on right.

My opinion anyway :)

The 3 humiliating beatdowns (Carwin, Cain, Reem) were the only 3 guys he fought at the peak of their careers IMO.

Mir is debatable. He looked more muscular than usual, BUT that is not how he it at his best IMO. He wasn't washed up like Couture and Herring though.

Brock doesnt lose points for beating herring in his third fight,no matter how "weathered" herring was.

I was ranking his opponents A games, not Brock's performance.

May be controversial but I consider Herring Brock's most impressive win

I really thought Herring would give Lesnar serious problems I notice then this guy is gifted I grew up watching pro wrestling, mostly Japanese which was way more stronger than the American stuff at that time (not sure about today).

I haven't watched in like 15 years lol well, I never thought a pro wrestler who isn't Sakuraba get so far and yes Lesnar did get fast tracked but he beat the guys he fought and he was a legit NCAA wrestler too.

I admire the guys balls for doing this because he doesn't have to do it and in turn it's bringing more revenue and eyeballs. I was surprised at the time he beat Herring and the way he beat Frank Mir was very scary too.

His wins over couture, mir and carwin are my favorites.

I found Couture hard to watch, he would have done soo much better if he was younger. Age was not on his side in that fight

As long as it stayed a grappling match,i felt like he had the measure of brock...it was his inability to absorb punches that spelled his doom

I pumped up my ranking of Carwin

I been giving him a hard rap

Basically I'm probably still not over how he punched himself out like that, it sucks!

I thought he would be the one to get the belt from Brock and the results of that fight were shocking and outrageous

He easily could have if he just aimed his punches better,he kinda went wild and got too excited.

Ref didn't help either

"Keep going and this will be over! Just punch for two more minutes!!!!! YAAAAAAAAAAHHHH"

etc

I voted everyone except Min Soo Kim and Herring.

I picked everyone cept for Min Soo Kim and Heath Herring.

so i picked frank both times because back then when he won he killed it and when he lost he was just caught really... the fight before lesnar he subbed hardonk in just over 1 min, then he subs lesnar in a flat 1.5 minutes. the next fight he tko'd nogueira which was the first time nog was finished in a fight too. that is franks best winning streaks in his ufc career.. i dont consider tank, wes sims and sylvia the calibre of nogueira and lesnar combined.

same goes with randy. 2 fights before lesnar, randy jumped back up to heavy weight for the first time in years (5 years to be precise give or take a few months i am just rounding year numbers.) he comes back to heavyweight and steam rolls sylvia for five rounds straight from bell to bell at the age of 44! next he layed the SmackDown (see what i did there?!) on gonzaga who just knocked out cro cop in his previous fight! gonzaga was a young brute back then and yet again randy was in his heavyweight prime and just took the fight to him and finishes him in the third round.

carwin was just a monster and was undefeated in the ufc and his mma career finishing all his fights in the first round. including gonzaga and mir in that 4 fight streak before facing brock.

cain was undefeated. nuff said. and i dont like writing about cain that much.

and overeem, that was the most savage and brutal overeem to step into the cage. and that was him purely juiced to the gills. a fucking monster.

thats my justification if you wanted to know why i voted all except 2.

eh,the ref coulda stopped it,but he was just hitting lesnars arms...
