Volkov overated AF or Gane that good ?

The fight was very close. I don’t know what you guys watched. And both guys had a poor performance that doesn’t raise either guys stock.

50-45 is awful judging. As bad as the commentating.

I'm sorry but you have no clue what your watching if you think that was a close fight . In terms of scoring a fight round by round it was a blowout

Volkov was only overrated in that people thought he could beat Gane, Volkov is a solid top 6 HW

Volkov looked terrible. He looked exhausted pretty early and barely threw anything. I think he might have had a broken hand or injured arm cause he looked fine the first round then justvstood there for the rest for the rest of the fight.

Gane is a boring point fighter. He is technical but he is boring against non-scrubs or fighters who aren't washed. If he fought in any other promotion, people would complain about him boring but because he is in the UFC people look at him through rose colored glasses.

Gane is THAT good: fast as a MW or even a WW, great arsenal, gas tank for miles and good grappling. the only thing i've seen is his wrestling needs some improving but he's really good. volkov is slow and Gane managed to best him at later rounds where he got slower. hope he gets a title shot.

I'm not sold on his grappling yet parce, he's only doing luta livre for 3 years, that not that long.
Luta Livre focus on submission over position, and Gane's grappling is opportunist. If he sees a sub he go fast on it 100% That can works in MMA ,but his grappling fondamuntals I'm not sure if he can control sweep reverse stand up defend well in the ground.

There is no roster depth at heavyweight.

We're shuffling around old farts and a handful of one dimensional guys, so it is notable when someone who is reasonably well rounded and reasonably athletic comes around. Neither Gane or Volkov have impressive skills if you shrunk them down to welterweight.

Suitably young talented athletes of that size are not interested in 12k to get your head punched in. Until the UFC is paying out a lot more then 18% of revenue, this is where heavyweight MMA will remain.

Agreed. against Ngannou you need more than that but for what i've seen it's good and progressing. we'll see what happens. i am more worried about his wrestling, the Td on Volkov were to stop his advance and rhythm.

Volkov was worried about Gane's ability to get inside and counter, so he was unwilling to jab. Volkov's jab is like 80% of his game.

Gane will give some guys problems unless they are willing to exchange with him.

Volkov kind of seem to be having a bad night. I'm certainly not the expert, but I wonder how he would do in a rematch with Gane. I am not suggesting that they do a rematch immediately. Nothing there screamed rematch. But I don't know maybe volkov had a bad night or will learn valuable lessons from tonight. He's definitely got the physique and skills but seemed off tonight.

How can Swolkov goes from Masterfull performance against Overeem where he looks sensational in striking, pressure, precision and power to Gane where he did nothing but some leg kicks in the first ?

Volkov is only 3-3 in his last six. Beating a 40 year-old, no matter who he used to be, shouldn’t have been that impressive.

Your making a paper thin argument out of unofficial numbers . Gane controlled the ring pressuring and backing up Volkov the entire fight while barely getting hit clean besides a hand full of punches and kicks . Volkov was never able to dictate the pace and land anything that rocked or marked up Gane while gane landed with authority and bloodied him up . The only real moment Volkov had was around the two and half minute mark in round 4 where he picked up the pace for a second but then went right back to getting jabbed in the face while backing up. Being generous I gave him that round and scored it 49-46 . It was not a close fight

Was a good competitive fight. Gane is not a "new generation" worldbeater and Volkov is not a bum or overrated. Both are top 10 talents. Don't see how stopping Reem is considered a big deal AT ALL so no idea where the overexaggeration is coming from TS

Volkovs had how many fights in the ufc? 20? Can you be overrated at that point? We've seen him fight all the top guys, he is who he is. He's very good, maybe not champ level but very good.

I don’t even know why Volkov had any hype, I always maintained that he’s a mediocre fighter and this fight confirmed it. Sherdog just has a hard on for Russians for whatever reason.

no, it's because Volkov is proven and Gane isn't. beating up the ghost of JDS and having a dance off with Rozenstriuk didn't really show us anything that we already didn't know.

at least in this fight Volkov gave him some things to be concerned about like the kicks he did to Gane's legs and body early on.
