I'm I the only one who thinks that UFC should have matched up Glover vs Shogun (History of Shogun ducking Glover) and Oezdemir vs Latifi (with Oezdemir winning he would be 2-0 against Gus' team and it would set up a fight against him)

Right now as I see winners of this fights will fight each other for a title eliminator.

I think I have to agree.

And that just shows how sad light heavyweight actually is at this point.
It is sad bro. You look at what volkan has actually done -basically ko'd two journeyman and he's in the title talk. Glover got ruined by rumble and gus latifi has been impressive so far but hasn't been tested. And shogun is shot, sorry fanboys im a fan too and it'd be a dream to see him on a title run but he had a split decision over Corey Anderson and beat villante which isn't impressive. Gus is still the top threat in that division

Oezdemir vs Latifi is a mismatch. This makes more sense.

Who the fuck is Gus gonna fight? I don't think a rematch with Jan Blachowicz is getting Gus out of bed.

It HAS to be Rockhold.

Yeah probably but even tho he may lose, if we want to see shogun make one last run at the title then a win over oezdmir can get him their quickly.

I like that... but thinking that Shogun vs Volkan is to step up the winner vs Gus. 205 is weak... we need to be blessed with a good scrap or two.

glover had exactly 1 fight in the UFC and shogun was chasing a title shot.

some old interview at the time (2012):

"They offered Glover to us," Rua said. "I talked with my team and we decided that Glover would not be interesting now. Glover is a top fighter - I know him, I respect him, but he just got into the UFC.

"He needs to get more fights. I had nothing to gain with that fight. We told the UFC that, for now, this fight is not interesting for me.

"After that the UFC offered Brandon Vera, but they never threatened to cut me, or I to leave the UFC. I've never picked my opponents. I've fought against the best, and I want to keep doing it and to get my chance for the title.

"For sure, Glover is a top fighter, but today, if I beat him, I would gain nothing. So we decided to refuse this fight, but in the future, this fight can happen."

Brandon Vera was 1-3 in last 4 fights and 4-4 in LHW division before fighting Shogun, Glover was 18-2 and on a 16 fight winning streak and 1-0 in UFC
