Virtue Signaling in Gaming Megathread, v.1

Harley Quinn's always been annoying. She's crazy.
Is Joker also annoying because he's crazy?

Your reasons are kind of a reach.
...'to me.'

You forgot to include that at the end of your sentence.

Let's just agree that there is a rising number of females and it's probably not 98% male dominated and perhaps it's not half either. No need to argue further, I'm tired anyway.
It ain't 30% of all console gamers are female either, unless you're honestly saying that 30% of console players are playing...
Animal Crossing
Mario Kart
Stardew Valley
Hogwart's Legacy
Kingdom Hearts
Final Fantasy XIV
...And the sales figures ain't that high.

"The total game console sales numbers are not very unpredictable as the Sony has sold 61.94M units of PS5 and Microsoft has sold 30.14M units of Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch sold 143.49M units."

The results of that polls are outright saying women currently own 30% of the 235 million modern consoles. Which is around 75 million.

<KhabibBS>
That hasn't happened, or else it'd have a very obvious cultural footprint.

I'll give you this -
'Also, we can just see Nintendo putting more effort into making female protagonists like Princess Peach and Zelda.'
I'd find it far more believable that a much higher percentage of Switch owners are women than PS5 & XBox.

But headlines like these with laughably bad claims like...

Sony reveals that 41% of PlayStation players are female

<WhatItIs>
The only way that headline would be accurate in 2021 is if a significant number of the scalpers weren't men, and were just reselling them for profit.

~50% of the gaming population are female. This skews heavily towards one gender depending upon the game genre/subgenre. Game titles that have near 50/50 playerbase representation based on gender have a communal aspect with extensive lore.

Your looking at this through the lens of a console gamer. Not factoring in that smartphone and even Pc outpaced the console market a decade ago. That have year on year increased this gap.

There really are alot of female gamers now. 50% sounds like too much but there are alot of them. It's a fucking business.

Whoever says its 90% men is WRONG.

Yup and a lot of people are only thinking of the USA here. Asia has an even higher percentage of female gamers, especially places like South Korea. I remember back in the day I had a pen pal from SK and she loved Starcraft. They all did back then lol

50% of the world population is female.
Far less than 50% of the gaming population is female.
Females with smartphones playing Candy Crush playing Candy Crush are not 'gamers.'
If there's an increased percentage of smartphone games targeting the increased female userbase.... good. Smart business strategy.

However, all points concluding that 30%-50% of console or PC gamers are female... are not honest.
70+ million women have bought PS5s, SeriesS/X, or Switch? Or a PC?
<LikeReally5>
No one believes that.
They're supposedly playing Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Stardew Valley, Hogwart's Legacy, Kingdom Hearts, and Final Fantasy XIV.
Do the total numbers of ALL those games even come close to 70 million? Is everyone who bought and played those games women? Are you honestly trying to convince us that 70+ women spent hundreds of dollars to buy a console and played one game?
By the way, another factor is mothers who buy consoles for their boys to keep them preoccupied, when women are typically in charge of the finances of their households.
Are those mothers considered 'gamers?'

So Kane and Zazen, you can point to the old polls that claim that women are 30%+ of 'gamers' all you like, but the simple fact is leftists have a very lose definition of 'gamers'.....

....and 'women.'

You act like consoles aren't shared purchases frequently. People keep presenting you data that shows a significant portion of gamers are female and all you have are "but I don't know any" and "mobile games aren't for real gamers." That's flat earther level logic you got there.

"Durrr.... if a man owns a console and has a girlfriend/wife.... that means the girlfriend/wife is playing it."

You really don't sound any smarter when you accuse others of 'flat earth logic.'

Yup, happens all the time. That's the point of consoles, they're shared devices and different people can buy different games for them. Not even a good strawman you got there, it's baffling how hung up your personal identity is on there being no female gamers lol.

I've never said there's 'no' female gamers.
Its clear and obvious the 'female gamers' are mostly playing Candy Crush on their smartphones, or if they are playing a modern console they're going for the cheapest option which is the Switch.

You, Zazen, Kane or any other outside source, have not said what all the supposed 70+ million female console owners are playing.
I'm taking the list at face value that the relatively small percentage of female console players are playing Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Stardew Valley, Hogwart's Legacy, Kingdom Hearts, & FF16...because its actually quite believable that only one of those games are on the Top 20 best-selling games of 2024.... at #11.
'The female console players' aren't a strong demographic developers should be investing hundreds of millions of dollars into... as the developers of Dragon Age and Concord just found out.

Plain and simple, you just want to believe it.
