Let's just agree that there is a rising number of females and it's probably not 98% male dominated and perhaps it's not half either. No need to argue further, I'm tired anyway.

The results of that polls are outright saying women currently own 30% of the 235 million modern consoles. Which is around 75 million.

I'd find it far more believable that a much higher percentage of Switch owners are women than PS5 & XBox.

The only way that headline would be accurate in 2021 is if a significant number of the scalpers weren't men, and were just reselling them for profit.

~50% of the gaming population are female. This skews heavily towards one gender depending upon the game genre/subgenre. Game titles that have near 50/50 playerbase representation based on gender have a communal aspect with extensive lore.

Your looking at this through the lens of a console gamer. Not factoring in that smartphone and even Pc outpaced the console market a decade ago. That have year on year increased this gap.

Yup and a lot of people are only thinking of the USA here. Asia has an even higher percentage of female gamers, especially places like South Korea. I remember back in the day I had a pen pal from SK and she loved Starcraft. They all did back then lol

Do the total numbers of ALL those games even come close to 70 million? Is everyone who bought and played those games women? Are you honestly trying to convince us that 70+ women spent hundreds of dollars to buy a console and played one game?
By the way, another factor is mothers who buy consoles for their boys to keep them preoccupied, when women are typically in charge of the finances of their households.

Yup, happens all the time. That's the point of consoles, they're shared devices and different people can buy different games for them. Not even a good strawman you got there, it's baffling how hung up your personal identity is on there being no female gamers lol.

It's gatekeeping. He's heavily invested in the culture war and he sees females as a threat to his hobby. It's a very stupid mentality as there are literally thousands of games created every year. If you can't find something to play and enjoy you need a new hobby. Females aren't ruining gaming, if there is one group that's ruining gaming it's out of touch CEOs trying to chase the latest trends. Even then though I'd argue that really only applies to AAA gaming. I say the more females the better, I want everyone to enjoy this hobby.

Because if you've ever paid attention to politics you'd know polls are frequently wrong, especially with obviously faulty data.

The vast majority of games being male-centered including all of the top sellers, and the female-centered games being major failures is a big hint.

It's basically the equivalent of the WNBA. An entire sports league was made for them, and its been a multi-million-dollar flop every year its existed.

I don't think it's fair to say that "Concord" was geared towards females specifically. More of a "modern audience" project that appeals to nobody. I don't think many games really target females, so much as they target the woke crowd. That said, it's still not catering to the core audience, which are young males. When a game just flat out does not appeal to the male demographic, it usually fails. The supposedly VAST female demo and "modern audience" demo aren't making up for the losses, when the core audience says "Fuck that".

That pretty much tells the tale of what demo is actually driving the industry. Games can be crushed by a few influential streamers ragging on it to their mostly male audience. If it was truly 50/50(or anything close), corners of the internet dragging a game down for being "woke" or whatever would not have such a big impact on perception or sales.

As per your descriptions those examples are classified as games. Thus making those who interact with such activities gamers.

I'm sure my uncle who plays Texas Hold'em and Blackjack at the casino and hates video games would be thrilled to learn he's a 'gamer' by your definition.

Game sales and even playtime hours are drastically different between consoles and Pc with very little crossover.
