Just a random matchup that popped into my head - how do you think a hypothetical fight between Gustaffson and Rothwell would go? Gus could outpoint him to a decision but he could also go for a takedown and end up in the Cheat Code choke, who you got?

Doooubt it, Rothwells size, chin and submissions are probably too much for Gus.

Interesting matchup. I'm assuming Gus moves to heavyweight where he should weigh around 235. I believe Gus's speed and reach would keep Rothwell from being able to explode on him. I think Gus would take his time and point him for the first few rounds, causing him significant trouble and simply outworking him. (If it was a 5 round fight) I think Rothwell would really start feeling the pressure and begin to gas out similar to his fight with JDS. I think Gus wins by UD in either situation, but if its 5 rounds I think Gus could win with a TKO

Actually that's true. Ben has a granite chin and Gus isn't known for KOs. I take that back.

I could see Gustafsson winning in a clear decision if he fought intelligently, using his spped and reach to dominate Rothwell.

The thing about Gus is that he's a bit of a brawler himself while having the occasional lapse in judgement, so while he has the ability to implement a successful gameplan you can never be sure with him against someone with true one hitter quitter power as we saw against Rumble.

Big Ben got hit with everything but the kitchen sink against JDS.

I highly doubt Gus punches harder than Junior.

But I do think Gus would box Rothwells ears off, just like JDS. Better technique & superior movement to the plodding of Big Ben.
