No DHEA Joke? I couldn't imagine the flood of dope post that someone like Romero did that move...
 
So much class. Love Machida and will always support him and watch his fights, regardless of the org. That said, it was awesome that he acknowledged his gratitude toward the UFC. I didn't see this departure coming at all. Who even knew his contract was up? But I'm happy for him and hope he makes a lot of money with sponsors in his next few fights.

I was just getting into mma around '07 and '08. I remember building toward that May '08 ppv where Penn fought Sherk (lot of hype for that one), I was in graduate school about to wrap up the semester and one dude in my class who was into mma was asking me about the three big fights, Wandy vs. Jardine, Lyoto vs. Tito, and Penn vs. Sherk.

I really was about as casual a fan as could be at that point so while I had some thoughts about the Penn fight and predicted Wandy via. savagery cause I'd seen his highlight reel, I knew very little about Lyoto and just assumed (because Tito was still a huge name of the sport) that he was going to lose to Ortiz.

When I watched that fight, I was blown away by the style. Tito was having trouble getting inside and when he did try to grab hold of a takedown, Machida reversed the momentum and took him down! Then there was the awesome, crumbling knee in the third round.

From that point, I knew I was going to be a fan of the guy. His fight vs. the also undefeated-at-the-time Thiago Silva remains one of my favorite bouts ever.

Great move. Hope Lyoto makes a lot of money, becomes champ again and retires healthy!
 
I really hope he makes a lot of cash and gets juicy.

that kick on vitor was so perfect. struggle to think of a knockout so clean.
