Khabib made Iaquinta's face a bloody mask using his jab lol, I thought Al was suppose to be the better striker

You can't be as effective with your striking when you are prioritizing TDD. Khabib took what Al was giving him and made him pay.

Masterful! What an improvement! I suggest he stand and trade with McGregor should they fight.

Funniest part about that was Khabib talking to him during the exchange.

Al said Khabib was counting out loud the shots he was landing.

Iaquinta said every time he landed, Nurmagomedov would go, "One....Two.....Three."

Al said he talked back at him and said, "Gimme another one."

Khabib feinted one, then wagged his finger at him.

LMAO

Conor will sleep him early.

And people said his striking looked bad lol.
Im sure his striking would suck in a pure striking match. But this is mma and people would rather get punched in the face than get taken down by him where they would get punched even more

Exactly. When guys who are dangerous on the ground learn to take advantage of the threat of the takedown, they make strikers look like amateurs. This has been going on for decades.

He looks awkward. People tend to overrate looking good a lot, though (that's why some people think Uriah Hall is a good striker, for instance). Outfighters, fighters who use a karate stance, fighters who bouce a lot are automatically viewed as more competent/technical strikers on Sherdog.

Lol I never heard about that one.

I know he talked to Johnson and Barboza when they fought. He even spoke to Dana in between rounds during the Barboza fight which was hilarious.

Yeah Al did a couple of interviews after the Khabib fight, and was talking about it, as well as Matt Serra.

They both laughed about it and thought it was really funny.

Khabib's 1-2 isn't that bad. His looping shots are too wide tho. I was shocked with how many kicks he landed clean in the fight.

A lot of people don't want to give the man credit but his striking has improved A LOT in his last couple of fights.

His DEFENSE is even better. Dude rarely if ever, takes more than a single strike while standing.

The stats are pretty crazy in his fights.

I remember Al talked about how hard it was to hit in one of his interviews. Apparently Khabib has a knack for staying just on the edge of people's range and avoiding flush hits. Plus, nobody with half a brain wants to load up on shots against him and risk getting caught up in his nightmarish TD game.

Khabib is way more technical than people want to admit. His style ain't always pretty but there is a lot of thought behind it.

That head movement! Reason McG is taking the fight.... Khabib has no head movement!! So surprised more dont notice ....

Talking to your opponent in the middle of a fight isn't something very common. That's pretty funny

Al had nothing for Khabib. That fight looked like sparring for Khabib.

He's not 26-0 by accident.

He's one of the best fighters on the entire roster.

Dude is a straight up beast.

Khabib's standup is nowhere near Conor's, but his jab actually looked much better in that fight. Definitely an improvement.
