Julian Turner, a collector of retro video games, went to a market earlier this month and bought some old NES games. When he got home, he discovered that he’d got more than he paid for: two of the cartridges were packed with illegal drugs.

The two games in question were Rollergames and Golf. Alarm bells started ringing when Julian realised that the copy of Rollergames was a PAL (Europe/Australian) version, which isn’t something you’d see every day at a flea market in Georgia.

After then noticing the cartridges felt heavier in the hand, Turner weighed them on digital scales and found both games were around 50% heavier than they should have been (he had other copies of both games on-hand to compare).

So he unscrewed the backs of both games to investigate, opened them up and found four shiny plastic bags. After opening those, he...called the cops.

(I’ve asked the attending officer for information on exactly what kind of drugs were in the bags, but am waiting to hear back).

Drugs on the 10 minute mark.

And the cops showed up

So who here did drugs in the 80s and stuff up their famico disc drugs.

Only thing I found on my old carts are dried booger from eons ago.

Sounds like he ended up with a....high score.

They were probably past their sell by date anyway.

Why call the cops? Go through all that trouble...just throw it out.

Mostly I'm amazed that shit got past customs. I mean, I'm sitting here thinking, "These drug smugglers aren't too bright. How did Customs not notice a videogame that wouldn't work on Nintendos in North America getting shipped into North America?"

He should have done all the drugs then played the video games, that was always my process.

I haven’t done hard drugs in over 5 years but finding that would definitely tempt me to throw a party.

I’d actually rather sell it but if I couldn’t...

Customs doesn't do anything, you could have a package with a label that says "drugs" and even specific details/packing slips visible, 9 times out of 10 it still goes through with no problem. These people aren't really checking in most cases, then randomly they'll get up in arms about unregulated produce shipments or something.

This has not been my experience with them.

I would actually be inclined to do the same. Seen too many times where calling the cops ends up bad for normal people.

What a dick.

Smoke it if that's you're thing
or
Sell the whole lot cheap if you can find a buyer
or
Throw it in the bin

Why the fuck would you call the cops? Gay as fuck

I'm confused, have the drugs been there since the 80s or this guy just ninja'd a batch meant for some narcotrafficker today lol?

Customs people are one of the most corrupt and lazy people in the world.
This is why it boggles my mind why people rave about custom made items.
