Some new rules will be in play for this event in case anybody doesn't know

http://www.mmafighting.com/2016/2/1...or-eye-pokes-kicks-to-grounded-opponent-to-be

Fouls removed:

12 to 6 elbows- All elbow strikes legal to approved targets.

Heel Kicks to the kidney

Grabbing the clavicle

Eye pokes:

In the standing position, a fighter that moves offensively toward their opponent with an open hand, fingers pointing at the opponent, will be a foul. Referees are to prevent this dangerous behavior by communicating clearly to fighters. Fighters are directed to close their fists or point their fingers straight up in the air when reaching toward an opponent.

Knees and kicks to a grounded opponent:

A grounded
fighter is defined as: Any part of the body, other than a hand and feet touching thefighting area floor. To be grounded, both hands palm/fist down, and/or any other body part must be touching the fighting area floor. At this time, kicks or knees to the head will not be allowed.

These are not officially adopted by the ABC. These are proposed rule changes to be tested tonight and potentially voted on in the future to be adopted and recommended by the ABC.

The Rules and Regulations Committee will vote on all these changes, but even if they pass through the committee it doesn't mean they will be adopted across the board. The ABC would then vote on them to become part of the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts in August and then each state will have to individually install them.

Me too. I'm gonna be caught up in the Bellator shenanigans tonight so I don't think i'm gonna watch this event but I'm excited to see how these rules work. Sean Wheelock doing great things with the ABC and I like how they're working with state ACs to test potential new rules.

I dislike that the eye poke rule only covers going forward when most people move backwards when poking. Apart from that gripe all the rule changes seem awesome and I hope they happen.
Only thing now is to add knee's to the head of a downed opponent / different scoring method and my problems with UFC/USA rules would be gone.

I dislike soccer kicks and stomps to a head of a downed opponent but love knee's because I feel knee's have 50% more force than elbows on the ground but soccer kicks / head stomps have like 150% more force.
Also I wish they would do full padded testing of knee's to a grounded opponent instead of just having them banned because they are brutal.
But then again it has been theorised / proven gloves make the sport more dangerous but we have to use them anyway because of "without gloves it is brutal" thinking :( so a test wouldn't do anything.

Ok after than Kimbo fight no MMA fight will be worse so lets watch VFC.

Oh god... it's Sean Wheelock commentating. I'm getting triggered as it's making me think of bellator

That was such a nice finish by Jason. Hope he develops more skill gradually because he had nice stand up.
