Pound for pound one of the best ever? My god israel was right that meathead might have one of the most incredible lego head in all of combat sports, the kicks he ate would have killed an elephant. Badass dude none the less he already had my respect but it grew even more after him taking this fight

i don't know how you can pick anyone but a HW for best chin. of course you can take better hits when you're fighting smaller guys. nobody talks about Stipe having a good chin and he's tanked hits off NGANNOU.

Definitely the best at MW.

He was definitely rocked though in that 5th round. Had Costa had a little more energy he probably could have put him out, though you have to do so in the pocket with a fighter like Vettori, not at kickboxing range because Vettori instinctually rolls with every strike.

For sure. He has extreme physical durability and additionally, I think, a really exceptional ability to psychologically suppress pain. You can tell that body work is destroying him in the last few rounds, but his sheer will to win seems to keep him up

Costa definitely cracked Vettori's chin in this fight. Might not have been anything SERIOUS. But there's no way you could take that kind of punishment without being compromised a little bit

Being a HW doesn't automatically mean a better chin. Plus, I think it's reasonable to assume there's a bit of relativity when talking about chins across weight classes.

He's been hurt a couple of times by Izzy, Holland and Costa. Still he has a great chin. No idea how he ate that head kick tonight.

He also has good striking defense and is good at feinting the level change and mixing in some clinch work. Izzy fans like to shit on his intelligence but he is pretty smart and fights smart too.

no, there is no relativity in chins. you either can take the big shots or you can't. it's really that simple. what you're talking about is p4p bullshit that ends up being theorycrafting at it's best.

Stipe has a good chin and I think most people here would admit it, its just not something thats talked about much because Ngannou knocked him out last fight.
