Yes, and Nelson also took hellacious beatings from Stipe, Werdum, Overeem, etc. I think he and Mark Hunt took more hard shots than any other fighters. Hunt also took punishment in K-1.

I checked it once, years back. Literally Roy fought every name HW of his generation except for Fedor, and Cain. It was kinda mind blowing to see the names in order

But it's absolutely true, every name guy at HW is on his resumé

Absolutely GOAT run.
At the time I really thought he was unbeatable, making light work of everyone, even Cain, who got KO'd quickly. I thought the rematch was silly, that he'd simply kill little soft Velasquez easily again.
It's unbelievable how a very fat and small Nelson survived. Then fatso survived other prolonged beatings by Werdum, Reem, Mir, and whoever else, but they don't throw nearly as hard as ole Ciggie.
 
Vettori is my least favourite guy to watch. So boring and stiff. Really glad Brunno won he can be fun to watch.

To be fair Merab showed that you can be mediocre in every aspect of fighting and still become champ and undefeated for years. It actually goes to show how shallow the mma pool is and how terrible fighters are in reality.

I think success in MMA comes down to tactics and strategy more than speed or reach.
It leads to wide array of crazy results we end up with
 
If he had literally any punching power, he could just spam power shots and let his chin and cardio carry him. He might even be champ. Damn.

False. A debilitating back injury forced Carwin to retire. He actually coached TUF against Roy Nelson afterwards but had to pull out of the fight.

The fact that he tanked this without having his face broken is ridiculous.
 
Vettori had a really bad and complex rotator cuff surgery, hence the year layoff. He's looked quite a bit worse since then and frankly I don't think he can fight at this level anymore. He wasn't the fastest guy before his shoulder went bad, but now he's cartoonishly slow.

He can compete against guys outside the top 15 but should look at retirement or other opportunities in easier orgs.

The fact he was only stopped 3x is insane, 3ko losses and 17 decision losses is fucking insane with that resume. I don't think he made all that much money either.
 
Vettori NEEDS to join Power Slap. According to my predictive models, a strong defense is the one of the best indicators of success in the sport, 2nd only to low offensive foul rate.

Give him 6 months of pool noodle and bob training, followed by 1 round of the Power Slap combine to perfect his technique. By 2027 he could decision his way to double champ status.
