Vettori shouldnt compromise at all

A few pounds before the weigh ins can actually mean several pounds by fight night, and it can make a whole lot of difference.
It’s not just the pounds , but the cut itself. Not really cutting versus someone who was cutting can represent a big advantage in the way your system works.
MMA needs to seriously get bigger consequences for not making weight, as this is clearly becomes a trend. Some guys (not saying it’s Costa’s case) are seeing this as an advantages, as improving the win odds is more rewarding than the punishment they get, which is financial only.
Nobody really remembers or mentions that a fighter didn’t make weight after they win.
IMO we need sportive punishments as well as financiais. When fighters start to lose scorecard points, along with the money, for not making weight things will change.
Usually the money penalty doesn’t even comprehend the win bonus, just the show money, which honestly I can’t understand the logic behind it.

I understand how weight cutting works. A few or even several pounds isn't going to be the determining factor in the fight. It's definitely unprofessional and bullshit, but it's not some crazy outrageous advantage. People have been missing weight for decades, it's nothing new. Diaz and Costa are the only cases I can think of where they gave their opponent a heads up about it. A 4 day notice evens it up a bit by allowing the opponent to skip the hardest parts of their cut, and start rehydration earlier.

Well then he would make zero dollars. He’s not that retarded.

It sucks for the other guy though, who was hell bent on making the weight. So it evens out a bit, but the guy cutting for real wouldn't have had to cut some things out. So, he might gotta put some back on if he's on track to be light, so it makes the honest guy have to bulk a little if he were almost on track to make weight. It's just frustrating more than having an advantage or disadvantage.

He was bitching about how the Triller payouts were so much better.

He seems to be idiotic enough to sabotage his MMA career completley for a fight like that.

Considering he is not an old washed out fighter,im surprised he thinks theyd want him. He doesnt seem to be well known enough for boxing to give a shit.

Yeah I think Costa has a lot of mental problems too, he just seems off..
It is well known that hair transplants sometimes may cause CTE amongst other things.

Ngl be kind of funny if Costa ends up fighting Vettori at say 205, beats him then turns around and claims he deserves a rematch at 185 with Adesanya. He's the type that totally would do it too. Guy was vastly overrated on here, throw in unprofessional to boot and I wouldn't be shocked to see the UFC force him up to LHW.
I don’t see how Costa is overrated

its not the weight per say, its the fact that he's not depleting himself at all to cut.
He still has to cut 17lbs to get to 195 and Marvin is getting paid more money the fighters goal is to make money he is probably happy Costa is over

if drunk ass costa cant make the 185 lb weight limit then vettori should call off the fight, fuck that, fuck costa. too lazy to make weight so now it falls on Vettori to give up the advantage that he's earned in being in better shape, in having to risk going up to costa's weight. so unprofessional. this is the apex of the sport, cut Costa imo. he seems like a total joke
I agree, but Vetorri loses out on a payday if he doesn't fight - no way Dana pays him the show money if he doesn't budge on the catchweight.

F*k You Costa complain make all the noize and complain about fighter pay then don't do things to earn at that pay. I had the Italian food for this weekend anyhow make weight or not, B!tch Brazilian! (Not all Brazilians just Costa)

Vettori should negotiate a higher percentage.

Pretty fucking lame he's going to get strong armed by the UFC to take the fight.

I, for one will not fault Vettori to not take the fight.

As for the other 85% of Sherdog.

I actually fought more than once against people that didn't make weight.

I took the fights (out of ego and stupidity)
Luckily the fights worked out... But in hindsight I really shouldn't have out of principle.

(1 or 2 lbs, sure whatever bit Costa is trying to fucking make it 20 lbs)

Well I hate that idea because i'd like that fight this week end it is the logical thing to do. He gains nothing from this fight. it wont get him closer to isreal, he already has the patented losses so i really don't see the point. he has even less to gain then before

Nothing to cry about though. Vettori seems to have the right mindset about it. He's not that bothered.

Definitely unprofessional move by Costa, but a few pounds isn't going to make or break the outcome. I hope Diaz didn't start a trend of this shit becoming more common.
Diaz has started this trend.
