Interesting video. Very sad to me.
I know some of you may completely disagree and that's what opinions are for, but imo war in general is absolute garbage, the idea that your views are better and if you don't do what "we" demand, we are going to go and kill your kind. In most cases killing innocent people, woman and children.
I don't blame it obviously in the man and woman that join the war, I blame it in the system and politicians that want something in return. They should be the ones doing all the killing.
It's also why I'm against any form of conscription, which has been practiced for a long time where I live. Society is basically saying you should go through the hell that is war and we're going to take that for granted. People don't truly grasp the physical torment and long-lasting emotional scars that war leaves on the young men who fight in them, not to mention the civilian trauma. It's an atrocious idea to simply expect people to fight and die for us.I know some of you may completely disagree and that's what opinions are for, but imo war in general is absolute garbage, the idea that your views are better and if you don't do what "we" demand, we are going to go and kill your kind. The best war movies are the ones that don't directly show that combat but show the scars these people have to live with. They should stop making war movies. I don't agree with glamorizing the topic for public consumption, and profit.
I don't like war movies, and their false perceptions. I think it stigmatizes veterans as being prone to violence, alcohol, drugs, suicide, etc. These things do occur but why are you making movies? To raise public awareness?
War is not a play by play to be analyzed like the NFL.
I think it would do good to raise awareness, at least where I live. There is a collective mental gap between military service and actual war. It's seen as "just something you do" not realizing that the entire point of military service to prepare for the hell that is war, and that preparation is piss poor. The psychological aspect of war is something that is not discussed at all and even in a country like the US where there is a better understanding of this, support for veterans is lacking. I think a lot of people also think wars are fought far away but veterans bring that pain home. I'm hoping it creates more empathy and make people think twice before supporting military adventurism.
Listening to that is such a mind opening experience, it shows how many guys bullshit in day to day life, I hear so many 'cool' stories from guys in bars and clubs how they killed at war like it's a joke and I think to myself 'go home, boy'.
These men have seen war, real war, your eyes don't lie.
Yeah your wrong. There are many men from the mercaneries types to ISIS types. Academi and many other private security contrsctoes do that. For example the Mercanries in ukraine or syria who are paid by the west or other psrties have to be men who enjoy killing. Why else would you constantly put yourself in positions where you do exactly that? So many warrior cultures still exist and more existed in the past. In addition you have a lot of people operating drones and missiles and air planes who do killing but less directly and like it when its their enemy. Or snipers or generals commanding war. I can point to the many israeli arab wars or india and pakistan and find you easily soldiers who enjoyed sniping the enemy or shooting and bombing them. We see it right now in yemen and syria and badically all of africa. And the chinese do it to enemy groups with impunity. Not to mention how pro war the US military generals seem to be with all the wars and military action US does. Someone like Mccain a war hawk is someone who sees and likes strategy of war. No other explanation for the shilling for iraq war and libya and syria and ukraine and kosovo and serbia and grenada and nicaragua and north korea and iran and arming terrorists and selling bombs and machine guns to people to carry out your wishes.
Today killing in militaries is easier with bioweapons and nukes and chemical and starvation. And drones and snipers etc. It makes it less personal and less grusome.
The idea that humans didnt evolve to kill or enjoy it especially in group settings just isnt true. Studies have shown men get off on group hunting and killing enemy groups. When you have issues is when men dont believe in why they are at war or who they are killing. That causes men to get ptsd and with that said ptsd is more a symptomn in the west and a cultrual one if you ask me.
It needs purpose to serve the tribe. Anything else is psychopathic (for example killing your wife or killing a man of your tribe or non tribe for saying mean things to you 1x time.) Or killing kids from your tribe. Etc
The military directly subsidizes and provides for it so it won't stopThey should stop making war movies. I don't agree with glamorizing the topic for public consumption, and profit.
