Victim culture is so deeply ingrained that its wrong to even point out why they are victims.

That said, Obama really did nothing to fight it, I agree with the article on that point. Don't complain about an issue you did nothing to correct when you led the country for almost a decade.

Oh, it's not quite like that. He's pretty good for geography, agriculture, energy and demographics as far as geopolitical implications are concerned but too short on industrial tech and sometimes downright woeful with social / domestic issues when he says anything about them.

That's referring to the ACA (which more than paid for additional spending with additional revenue, plus reduced the growth rate of healthcare costs) and the partial repeal of the Bush cuts. The combined impact there is bigger deficit reduction than any legislation passed previously, and the long-term debt trajectory was fixed. I don't give him a lot of credit for the negative spending growth during most of his term. The stimulus would have had a minimal offsetting impact ($800B in reduced revenue + increased spending, but a portion of that would come back directly in taxes, and the increased economic growth as a result would also have offset much of it--and even the total is insignificant in comparison to the long-term debt reduction). There is a philosophical issue in that instead of crediting him for the partial repeal of the Bush cuts, you could count the partial reinstatement against him, in which case the net impact of his policies is still large debt reduction but not as large.

And the other point, that you snipped, is more significant, IMO. There's clear logic behind the call for long-term reduction and short-term deficit increases to get us back to full employment, but there is no justification for thinking that debt was a dire threat in Oct. 2016 and then that greatly increasing it was good after Nov. 2016. The view, expressed by a lot of people in the media that A) debt was a problem before Obama, B) Obama made it worse, and C) that the Trump tax cuts were good, in addition to containing two factual errors, doesn't add up logically.

If Trumpster could forgive Trump for running a scam University, scam charity and setting new records for lying, people could forgive Jay-Z for being a poor kid from a tough neighborhood who sold drugs to make money and then went on to have tremendous success in life due to his own talents and not daddy's money. Besides Trump doesn't seems to have now problem hanging out with :eek::eek::eek::eek:phile Ted Nugent. How old was Courtney Love when he had sex with her? I believe she was 12 but then again they really are 2 of a kind Nugent likes having sex with 12 year olds and Trump makes sexual comments about his own daughter. I've never herd Jay-Z or Obama making sexual comments about their own daughters.

What's more, any economist will tell you that we wanted higher deficits when interest rates were very low and unemployment is high, and we want lower deficits now that unemployment is low. The hypocrites are the people who were pretending that debt was a major threat a few years ago, and then immediately flipped in November 2016.

Note that it's actually because Obama fixed the long-term debt that Republicans were able to then pass a law that massively increased debt.

That is not true at all. The debt increased dramatically under Obama. The debt never decreased while he was in office.
