In this case, probably to make some space for Mayhem.
He just weighed in at 209 (!) against Barnatt (185): from title fight to an apparent catchweight.
Clearly a subliminal message to Stockton and the Skrap Pack: it's not settled yet.
Or maybe that's why he was calling out Josh Barnett (and not Barnatt) in February: months of missunderstanding.

Miller tipped the scales at 209 pounds for the 185-pound title fight, missing weight by a staggering 24 pounds.

MMAjunkie’s John Morgan was on-site and said it appears the fight may be off.

Seems like Barnatt's team may be willing to allow Mayhem to try and cut and make it a light heavyweight bout, but nothing agreed yet.

Asked Barnatt yesterday what he’d do if Mayhem was 5 pounds over. Said he’d take half his purse, fight anyway. I didn’t set bar high enough.
