Well, I try to include more vegetables in my diet and meals, and go through times where I cook and prepare vegetable lunches and dinners etc. However, it seems to bloat me and causes pain in my intestines, and contrary to what health sites tell me about veg, it seems to stop me from going.

Yet, I go back to bread and cereal etc and hey presto, my bowels run like clockwork again.

Anyone else had this, or can advise on why this might be and how to counter it?

It's common sense that vegetables are healthy and I would like to reduce my sugar intake, so it's a given that I need them, but is there any way I can reduce bloating, cramp etc?

are you eating alot of vegetables? Bloating could be from an excess daily fibre amount.

Gradually add them till your digestive system gets used to them.

Eat grains too not a 2 pound steamed veg dinner, I personaly could handle it.

Not everyone does well with large amounts of vegetables and fiber. It's common in IBS/Crohn's for some people to go on low fiber diets to reduce constipation.

This is especially the case if a lot of fiber/vegetables are added to the diet very quickly, instead slowly increased over a period of weeks/months.

If you can handle fruit, I would stick with that. Then you can add vegetables to your diet very slowly over a longer period of time to get used to them.

Thanks for the advice. I've maybe frightened my digestive system.

Thank you for the advice. I have found a diet on the net called FODMAP and it's supposed to ease ibs problems which I feel I may have.

Try juicing. It's kind of expensive/pain in the ass, but I feel good when I do it. I think it helps my regularity.

Some yogurt to help the digestive system. Have you tried?

It takes a while for the body to get used to a high fiber diet, those symptoms should be temporary. Start with small amounts of veg before adding more.

maybe try adding more probiotics and fermented foods to your diet to build up good bacteria in your gut. stick with the veggies though, and your gut will get better at digesting them as your stomach's bacteria changes to breakdown the more healthful diet. if you continue to have problems though, consult a gastro doc to make sure you don't have another issue.

It depends what your baseline diet is, how quickly you introduced more vegetables and what type of vegetables you started including.

Like said give your body time to gradually get used to more veggies ( fiber), i still get bloated a little so i eat a huge bag of veggies every night before bed, usually the bloat is gone the next morning and i dont mind being bloated while sleeping. Just a suggestion.
