Vasyl Lomachenko vs. Devin Haney - Who wins?

Who wins?

Lomachenko has never looked good against elite level fighters. He built his legend on the Jason Sosa's of the boxing world. Its kind of weird to read over his boxing record and see there's not really much there for a guy so highly regarded.
I think Haney basically ends Loma's run as a top level fighter.
looked great against walters and rigondeaux at 126 but 135 is not a good division for him whatsoever.

he’s literally one of the most fellated and overrated fighters of the modern era. the amount of lomachenko dicksucking done in hardcore boxing circles from 2015-2019 was horrific. those people have since moved on to usyk, another great but absurdly overappreciated fighter.
I think alot of this is true.
I can't like the post because of my yellows.
But they need to make another button next to "Like" that says "that might be true". Cuz I'd click that one on this post.

I guess I expect more from a guy regarded so highly than Nicholas Walters.

they ain't gonna let you back on the mainline if you keep beefin with peeps

You don't understand a lot in boxing. He turned pro more prepared than most because he spent forever as an AM. He was then served up a title shot completely undeserved in his 2nd fight and still lost vs a fighter with 11 losses. Next fight he was given another title shot and won. Then rushed through a couple more divisions beating a few good fighters but no elites, and everyone got on his dik. Then he loses to a green Lopez and everyone makes excuses.

He is manufactured and spoiled. I bet many many fighters could have won titles just as fast if they were given the chances he was given. He also lost vs Ortiz so his real record is 16-3. Never in history has someone with that record been hyped as a P4p let alone ATG level lol.

Casuals like you just look at records on paper, and ignore who he fought and who he lost to.
bitching about someone getting an undeserved title shot is fine, but it makes you look like a fucking retard if the guy wins the title. so he didn't deserve the belt, despite spanking the reigning champ? superb logic.

he won titles in 3 divisions. he did it the fastest in all 3. he unified three belts at 135. when he was winning those titles, were there people you considered ranked higher than him in each division, or are you simply disregarding them entirely? because if you didn't, then he was rightly ranked #1 in all of them, which makes all complaints about him being overrated completely invalid... unless you wanna cry yourself to sleep every night about a hypothetical p4p ranking.

read your post again. all you do is whine about his record, then accuse everyone else of only focusing on his record. projection much?

he amassed a bunch of accolades on paper, and he looked spectacular doing it. but of course contrarian bitches like yourself will moan about it until the end of time, with no substance.

Loma isn't nearly active enough anymore. He probably spends the first 4 to 5 rounds dancing around not throwing anything, and picks up the pace in the last 5 to 6 rounds. He then acts shocked that he lost 7-5 on the scorecards and his fans spend the next few months ranting about how he was robbed.

You're talking from the future. This will be Loma-Lopez II with an older Vasyl and an opponent who will be better at smothering his combos, hence won't give away as many rounds as Lopez.

Loma is just too small and his reflexes, speed and athleticism aren't at peak form anymore. Not even getting into his body physically falling apart in recent years with all the injuries and surgeries. Haney will look 2-3 weight classes bigger like Teo did except Teo didn't have anything like Haney's jab in his arsenal. Haney doesn't have much elite skills outside his jab but his jab is one of the best in boxing right now and the jab and clinch, stall, hug is about all he'll need with the comical size difference. Loma will be cracked with the jab, hesitant with the size difference like early against Teo and even Jamaine, any time Loma can counter, slip or unload combos Haney will clinch, hold and stall and bruise him inside like Salido and then later, bigger opponents did. There will probably be a decent amount of lowblows as well. I don't think Haney is all that good outside of his jab but Loma while still good has always been a blown up FW, a gnome of a LW and his main attributes that made him a top P4P fighter at his peak have diminished. Haney UD.

The best version of Lomachenko beats the best version of Haney. Loma looked stiff in his last fight, I think that was a combination of inactivity combined with Ukraine situation. I expect him to be much more focused against Haney.

I said it before and I’ll say it again.
Loma will never be appreciated enough as a pro by the hardcore fans. He is literally what could have been his 5th weight class to hold a world belt in, had he turned pro after winning his first olympics.

I’m just hoping we get to see Jalalov in a few title fights before he turns 30.

maybe it’s a regional thing but in Britain every boxing fans I know loves him.

What is there to dislike, he’s an absolute joy to watch and makes everything look so easy. And on top of that he hasn’t ducked a challenge. In fact it’s the complete opposite, he’s fighting guys naturally way bigger. All of the top young fighters in that division and none of them will get in the ring with each other. They just fuckin talk about it. The only one that would happily fight them all is a little, old fella.

Salido idiotic " win " IMHO was just cos Loma was EE origin boxer.
About weight difference importance alone: put for example Canelo on traditional horsemeat and he will get KOed by f.e Dorticos or Tabiti.
Cold.

While Loma is boxer I even hate a bit.
Still he really was capable to do some couple fights more @ 126 and @ 130 division and IMHO today had 0 problems to make @ 130 weight ins limit.
Loma isn't large for 130 lbs division boxers, not alone 135 lbs division boxers.
Loma vs Campbell clearly shows difference in size here...

The younger, bigger man most likely wins wide, in an excruciating hug-fest, something like 8-4 or worse. I’ll have my finger crossed Loma starches him but its highly unlikely.

Haney might be the most boring fighter I can remember since Nard. At least Bernard had pop and some nasty when he was young. I’ll only watch because of Loma. I can see myself scheduling daddy daughter dates the nights he fights going forward.

Good point, this could end up being a very lopsided fight.

Well while I agree that he in pro ranks had fought guys bigger than he is. One exception in pro ranks was Rigo.

Loma is cocky.
I had met Loma and Usyk ( Usyk some x times ) in person.
Loma was cocky sh***.
Usyk; really nice guy.

Yeah the Salido win was def sus and he got away with 100 low blows. I think Haney is gonna hit Loma downstairs a bit too.

This is the kind of fight that reminds me why I don’t gamble on boxing. I love Loma him, I could never bet against him. I will predict that he is going to win because God dammit that is the reality I want to live in

Haney is younger and bigger, maybe not quite as skilled but I think Haney's advantages get him a win.
