Valentina Shevchenko vs Dakota Ditcheva

Dakota has already said it is her goal to fight Valentina (who she admires but wants to fight). If Val doesn't lose before the inevitability of Dakota in the UFC, it most certainly will happen.

Dakota has looked quite good as most of us know. The only issue would be her ground game. Most all of her fights are on the internet (MMA as well as Muy Thai), and her ground defense looked pretty good; there are multiple fighters that have tried the TD game to stop her. I get it that these were mostly lower-level fighters, but the UFC doesn't have loads of great wrestling at her weight either. I'm pretty sure she will be ready for anything Val throws at her.

Val looked good in winning her last fight, but no one is pretending she is the fighter she once was. She fought to a virtual draw with Santos, while Dakota wrecked her.

This would look like a tossup when Val was younger. As of right now, I'm going to give Dakota a pretty clear nod (especially given it will be at least 1-2 years before it happens, and Dakota will be better on the ground and in mixing up her overall game by then).

What say you on this matchup?

It looked like she turned up to a new level.

Dakota's record looked good but I'd not heard of her until Sherdog gave her the breakout fighter of the year (I thought Kayla did a lot more and on a bigger stage).

You're kidding right? Do you know how much gay body admiration has gone on over the years on Sherdog? Pics of bodies like Conor, Aikyama, Sage Northcutt, etc., and endless provocative discussion about them?

Also, these ladies took those pics voluntarily. I don't think any of them are especially provocative. They wouldn't release them publicly if they didn't want people to look at them.

I'd favor Dakota right now but in a year or two she's an even bigger favorite. I think she has what it takes to stop Valentina. Dakota by KO/TKO.

Val's run at FLW is good because she won most of the fights, but she moved to FLW when it was still developing and full of a lot of low level fighters. Girls like Andrade and Joanna were good, but both were meant for SW not FLW.

The first really decent girl she fought that wasn't part of that initial FLW wave of girls was Santos, who took her to a split decision.

Santos didn't last 2 rounds against Dakota.

I don't think Shev looked better than ever in the third Grasso fight. Grasso is just not a good grappler and Val's whole gameplan was designed around exploiting that.

Val in her prime would have made it a good fight.

It sucks that Val is 36 and Dakota is 26. If Dakota ever comes to the UFC, Shev will probably be pushing 39 by the time a fight happens.
