Vacant BMF if Masvidal becomes champ?

Masvidal said that the BMF belt can only be up for grabs by another BMF, & Usman is too much of a pretty boy or something like that to be considered a BMF.

So Masvidal's belt is not on the line for this fight.

IF they were to keep going with that gimmick it would be kinda sad to start it off with a vacated belt.
No one would even want it unless they beat Masvidal for it.

And really, while there are planty of tough fighters, no one is talking about anyone as a BMF anymore, that was just suited for Masvidal and Diaz with their gangsta vibes. It would be weird to give it to any other random tough fighter.

People can argue he's got bad taste (as do I) for wanting more BMF, but I don't get why people are trying to make it out as if he's misunderstood what it was.

If they were to make this gimmick into a trend it would be dumb to start it off on such a low not as having it vacated.
I don't think anyone would want that silly belt unless they beat Masvidal for it.

And really, BMF doesn't sound right for anyone but Diaz and Masvidal.
There are plenty of bad ass fighters but no one else is really playing up the gangsta attitude in the same way as they are.

It can be whatever the promotion chooses it to be. It doesn't have to be tied to Masvidal since Masvidal will be too busy if he beats Usman.

It opens up a main event between guys like Lawler, Diaz, Ferguson, Conor, Poirier and some others. As they almost always need a belt for a PPV. It's a tool to make great main events for fans.

So I don't think they should abandon it. Everything about Masvidal/Nate was awesome (except the stoppage).

That's just a rule they made up for themselves. So they don't need to make something up to convince themselves to break their own rule.

They could make Conor vs Tony any day and have it be a main event, without something made up tied to it.

However, I can absolutely imagine that more BMF nonsense would sell well, and bring in more casuals. The UFC have probably contemplated it. Seems like spectacles automatically create more PR. (even if it would to a large extent be people complaining about the sillyness, all PR is good PR)

I don't like fake belts either (though I do like the theme). More about the necessary steps to get these match-ups, and this title (or accessory, call it what you will) is a tool for it. Brings in chedda. Everyone's happy.
