Rumored Usyk vs Wilder - IVB - YouTube - July 11th

Ali fought people from Jamaica, UK, Uruguay, Belgium, Hungary, the Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Argentina (multiples from some of these countries too).

So no, it wouldn't.
I said top rated heavies. The ones he fought that were the most accomplished were American. FYI Usyk fought only one name opponent that was a Brit at cruiser. The rest were all from different countries (Germany, Poland, Russia, Lithuania, South Africa, America, etc). Those guys would've all been considered heavies back in Ali's day.

The British thing serves two purposes:

1. It reinforces how threadbare his HW run has been when he has only really fought people from one country.

2. It rustles some jimmies.
heavyweight was almost always fought by people in one country. that has more to do with promotions.

The heavyweight division today has much more diversity than it did in the 60s & 70s. There's no shortage of southpaws, either. It isn't the Brits' fault that the others aren't good enough to beat them aside from obvious exceptions like Usyk & Kabayel who both remain undefeated.

Just read something that Wilder said about the advantages he holds over Usyk. It's a bit head-scratching to put it mildly.

Wilder: “I do have the speed and the height and the athleticism, which are three things that give me an advantage.”

Does he actually think that he's faster and more athletic than Usyk? The article goes on to say…

“Most fans will strongly disagree with the speed and athleticism points, but Wilder’s notorious right hand is likely to still represent a potent weapon if he can find the time to fire it against an elite mover in Usyk.”

Realistically, he holds 3 distinct advantages over Usyk — Height, reach, and power. The first two he doesn't use particularly well and the last one hasn't come through for him in a while.

He looked slower than usual his last fight.

The fact I presented is that Usyk has only fought HWs from one country (aside from one) in the context of how few HWs he has fought. Not 'top HWs'. Just HWs. So your Ali comparison makes no sense.

And now you're talking about crusierweight when the discussion point is Usyk's thin HW resume. It's irrelevant.

Just accept that Rematch King Usyk is a glorified British champion who shares a lineage with Michael Sprott, Julius Francis Matt Skelton, Scott Gammer and Sam Sexton.

You got countered hard with logic and didn't like it. We understand. BTW Usyk beat a plethora of guys at the same weight (heavy) in the aforementioned WSB that were all different nationalities. Oh, and won the World Championships & Olympics against the best international competition on the planet. You're excused.

You can't actually believe the first point, right? You can't be that dumb.

Same weight class and he got paid for all 6 fights. The end.

PS. People still talk about them to this day.

Interesting, I don't know much about the amateur scene in that region but have heard it's very close to the pros. Makes sense, the Ukranians, Russians and the like tend to get to the pros and appear to be the finished product, even Lomachenko has been out of his prime for quite some time I think.

What I'm referring to is the now defunct organization called the World Series of Boxing (WSB) that AIBA used to run. It was a so-called "semi-professional" circuit that had the look and feel of a professional fight but with some slight differences. It's where Usyk schooled Joyce, beat Majidov, and several other heavyweights.

PS. Loma is retired now but yes he had been past prime for a while.

Usyk's next opponent apparently isn't going to be Wilder then. Good. However, 2 other names have been floated. The head of Usyk's team says Kabayel is the secondary option but Chisora has just come out and said that it's Andy Ruiz Jr who happens to be the other American former champ that isn't named Wilder. I'm not interested in Ruiz. He's also been out of the ring for a while.

Chisora claims he knows who Usyk is fighting next instead of Wilder

Loma was past prime when turned into pros.

Looks that he had serious financial support IRL to be Am boxing Superstar.

Therefore needed to get more than just 1 Oly Gold and 1 World Gold medal...

& in best case he should to keep peak ready condition and train like monk even after he get first Oly Gold and World Championship Gold...next 4 years....till dream maybe...

Western boxers usually turns into pros after they get 1 st Oly Gold or WC Gold ( WC is in years when aren't Oly Games )...
Also even after continental gold or silver ( like Pan Ams or Euro )....

Plus maybe lesser well known is what stuff at least till 2022 th was Euro Continentals for ams....
It isn't EU championship, boxers from Ireland, United Kingdoom, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus etc had competed...in continentals.

Yeah I heard Usyk might want to fight Ruiz and I think Ruiz deserves it even less than Wilder. Even though Wilder has lost a lot lately he has at least been active and has one recent win. Ruiz was damned lucky to get that draw vs Miller (I thought he lost) but that was his first fight since he won vs Ortiz. He just doesn't fuckin fight enough and has pissed away a lot of his prime. He can't milk that AJ KO forever.

Usyk vs Kabayel would be great next. People need to stop talking about Usyk vs Itauma, that's a stupid matchup and Itauma is not nearly ready for that.
