What do you think about this move?

Any other man in the MW division would’ve been finished. Usman had the best TDD in UFC history at that time, Chimaev got him down and nearly submitted him. Strickland, DDP, Izzy, it wouldn’t have mattered. Chimaev would’ve won the title right then.

But Chimaev didn't win the title yet so what are you talking about? He pulled out of so many fights, what happened to fighting every week?

Chimaev backpacing on Usman's back while Usman is standing.
That says it all

Usman got lucky. If Khamzat was able to hold that grip from the hailmary by Kamaru, Usman was going to be just another guy Khamzat flawless victoried lol. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if Khamzat sealed the deal in round 1 if they rematched

People think Usman would do so much better in a full camp if they rematched but I think a full camp of Khamzat prepping for Usman = round 1 finish for Khamzat.

It’s gonna take somebody getting paralyzed for a rule change which sucks. If you’re in the street and somebody has your back like that, by all means because once you go out, Herzog’s not gonna run up and save you. But in a sport match…I just hate seeing this because it’s gonna happen.

Pretty sure that spiking someone on his head is illegal in unified rules. Obviously judges tend to not see that stuff. Just like kicks to the back of the head. I guess you can argue he could have just let go. My counter argument would be - there window to do that was very small.

It is but theres another "unspoken rule" that counters many of these situations and that rule is called... "the heat of the moment".

You may've heard the term used before along with "playing the game". These unspoken rules that are basically the ref's call.

It's illegal to spike someone on the head...BUT...it's not illegal for you to fall forward based on position. Intentionally head spiking is a no no...but flipping forward with someone on your back is not.

That fight was so weird. Hamsa absolutely dominated Usman in that first round in a way we’ve never seen. Then, he fades down the stretch vs a short notice Usman at a weight class he normally doesn’t fight at.
Khamzat goes in there and do not pace himself.

I think MW benefited Marty who has great cardio and is always in shape. Cutting 15 pound less and fighting at a more confortable weight worked pretty good for him. I wonder why he does not try 185lbs... maybe he think he will not be able to muscle his way to victories.

Not that weird when you find out he broke his hand and needed surgery right after the fight
